Water temperatures below 55 degrees or so generally isn't a good idea for two reasons. The first being that the lower the water temperature, the lower the levels of dissolved oxygen are. Flooding your medium, combined with the lower water temperatures will deprive your roots of oxygen. Also, the lower the temperature of your root system is, the less effectively it will function. It is never a good idea to allow the root zone to be in the 50s, and ice water is significantly colder than that obviously. This will likely lead to shock, and the plants will stop drinking.

If you are trying to encourage cold temperature coloring in late flower, it is easiest to manipulate the environmental temperatures. If it is winter where you are, Give the plants more darkness down he stretch. Autos arent as temperamental to light stress, but it would be a good idea to gradually adjust your timer, not all at once..

Also, give your plants 100% darkness the final 2 or 3 days. Some people believe the dark period increases resin production, but the results are inconclusive. At the very least, though, the temperatures will be colder than with the lights on.

If its mostly white and not drying up or changing color yet you still have about a3 weeks to a month of growth left..some things during the grow can slow down the timer ..like over watering ...I would feed till you see the hairs drying about 20 30% then give water.

I thought colder water makes it so that more air can get in the water and thats one reason DWC use chillers the lower the temp the more air it can hold .
