Afternoon all. I've had start a new handle coz I forgot my old one. Never done autos outside before but needs must as I can't use my indoor groom atm. I've got some autos that are acouple days old. Are they too young to be outside in this heatwave the UK is experiencing atm? I'm trying to protect the roots/pots from direct sunlight but will the sun burn the new baby leaves? They will be done in pots in my garden. Thanks in advance to any replies, reds.

Welcome reds

Hi there reds and Welcome to the AFN Family :tiphat:

now, im not a expert at outdoor growing. but what i`ve seen is that people often start their seedling off inside, and then move them outside when they`ve gotten a good start off. maybe keep it inside for coupple of weeks in the start so they`re more upp to the enviroment outside.

Head on over to the intro section : https://www.autoflower.org/f35/

always a great start to say high to our members so they can get to know you and your plans, to help you out better in the furure High 5

Welcome back reds , sorry about your password i have my tattoo on my arm :crying: imo i would cover those babys with something in the line of like dome or something translucent

you can make a home-made propagator by cutting the top off of a large, clear bottle. It will protect it from most things while they're young, wont do much against the heat though

Welcome to AFN 'Heat Wave' yes it has been aint it, they say its the hottest July for like 7 years soaring at 33c yesterday and have i enjoyed it lol, It is best to start your girls inside but if you want to put them out side just put them out in the day and inside at night just for a couple of weeks to try and harden them off a little :smokebuds:

I would say your absolutely fine, I have started seedlings inside a propagator, windowsill and outside.

I have 3 lr2 seedlings and they are doing just fine in this heat, whats more they are in plastic pots as are my other plants, the pots get very hot...no issues! Never have had a problem with heat/sun.

Exactly this.

Many strains if not all strains are from places where temperatures far exceed what is currently going on in the UK.
Nam is right though and as is this...the best herb is grown with the sun, it allows for a much wider range of cannabiniods, potency, resin/chrystals.

Honestly reds, even though I must respect the knowledge of those who say start them inside, this is one thing I would be willing to stick my head on the line for.
It's more than fine to start them in this & I wouldn't be surprised if the growth would exceed that of an indoor grow but if you wish to grow inside for peace of mind then go for it but if it was me I would just grow the whole cycle of the plant indoors our all outdoors.
