I have 5 Swiss Cheese beans. They were going to be grown outside. That's not possible this year. Will I be able to grow them inside? They are labeled to be an outdoor grow. Doesn't say they can be grown indoors.

Hello,

The reason they are outdoor beans is because the Blue Cheese (one of my fav's) will grow very tall. Most outdoor breeds can be done indoors, however, variable results will be had. Your plant will probably grow at least twice as tall as it will be when you switch it to 12/12. Sometimes even taller with a Very Sativa type plant.

I see no problem growing them indoors, just don't let them veg too long. You can get more advice I assume, don't take my word as the only word. I just know my own experiences.

The problems usually arise when growing indoor strains out doors, not usually the other way around. Also, your yields won't be as big indoors generally.

They are photos and they can take a little abuse. A major low stress training on them and a short veg they should be fine. I don't want to loose them. They'll be a year old soon.

Sounds like a perfect opportunity to use a shortening trim ... basically after the first 2-3 sets of leaves the middle is cut out and kept trimmed and not allowed to grow at all ... this forces branching and in theory turns a medium/ tall plant into 4-8 shorter tops of equal height but significantly shorter than if the center had been allowed to grow. It may reduce the harvest slightly but w/o shortening the plant it would have been too tall to grow ...
