New Grower NL First Time Grow... Total Newb

Well, good news back from my little vacation and the buds have gotten soo swollen and really frosted with loads more trichs.

I was amazed, so first thing I hit em with some good drinks of water.. I think they may have appreciated my time away so they could do their thing.

I also noticed the white lil calyxes on my monster cola of my big plant has went greener and not white anymore... That bud is at least 6 inches tall and 3.5 - 4 inches in diameter. It hasnt frosted as much as everything else.. Im figuring it is just because of the size.. The pistols are a majority on all plant a light orange hue..

The sheer size of all buds has gotten bigger and more swollen up.. This may turn out to be the stuff that knocked elvis off the throne.. Really surprised myself.

I will have pictures tommorrow fellas and you can tell me what you all think...

The plants will be 10 weeks old this Wednesday. I think I will keep watching trichs for cloudyness and amber, and paying attention to pistil color as well..

Id bet your right. Id say I was over watering them a bit, newbie mistake.. Im thinking I will water a tad different now.

Mmmm Mmmm good!
They are looking really, very, nice! I can't wait until I get to this point. I bet I'll be so impatient that I will drive myself batty!!
As I don't have the experience; reading about it is all I have at this point.
I am planning on getting a good magnifier I think about 60x or so to examine the trichomes with. Prolly going to wait for a fair amount of amber because I am looking for sleepy, couch loc for my first batch.

wwwillie, waiting is the hardest part man... I really dont know what Im doing either... I am just trying to learn what plants like as I go.. There is so much I will be changing on my next grow.. I will be using larger pots, using a good ph meter, a good ppm meter, and some good nutes on a schedule next time. I hope your plants look 100 times better than mine dude..

I am having one hell of a time learning when to harvest as well, Ive read great info on here but when it comes to growing anything Im a dumbass... Im still amazed at how seeds sprout and grow.. It is definetly one of god's miracles.

Also I really dont smoke much, just once in a while.. I am however growing this for me to keep some and dry and get a really long cure going.. Alot of this will be given to some friends who smoke more than Cheech & Chong.. Im gonna try to store what bit I keep in some glass jars for times when my PTSD kicks in and stuff... Or if I cant sleep due to nightmares from the happenings I brought home from Afghanistan..

I hear that my friend...
I got my medical recommendation for my insomnia, the pharma just not working anymore.
It will good to have some laid away for the trying times that come your way.

Yeah, I cant wait to harvest these babies.. Im just waiting for the right time. I have never harvested any yet, I know it will confuse me as well..

I was gonna just chop em and hang em upside down in my garage where I have my grow going on, but Im afraid a dim corner wont suffice. Im hoping it will, but I guess I will see...

Well my plants are 10 weeks old from seed as of today at 3pm...

When does everyone think I should chop em? I have like half the pistils turned reddish color and the others pistils arent bright white, but still white...

Zipperhead! Glad it all worked out for you man, the buds look very nice I hope you get a large harvest. I see you're eager to chop these things, judging by the leaf colour some of the plants look almost done but remember you don't have to cut them all done at once, you might find some take a little longer than others.

My personal opinion is that the leaves in those pics from last week tell me they must be nearly ready now, although I sense some may disagree. Need to see some current photos, especially of the leaves. A nice sharply-focused picture of the main cola would also help.

Have you stopped giving nutes yet? You will need to cleanse your soil of nutes for 7-10 days before you harvest. So if you don't think they need more than this stop giving nutes now.

On my first grow I couldn't wait to harvest, luckily I had someone more experienced helping me or I would have chopped mine about 4 weeks too early! Don't follow your gut instinct as more than likely this will lead you to cut them too soon! Haha resist that temptation my friend and trust the indicators you see: leaf yellowing, about 10-20% amber trichomes. One more sign I've noticed is that the plants will take up less and less water the closer to harvest they are. If you find the soil is still moist even 3-4 days after watering then it's probably time.

I messed my latest grow up quite badly! Among other things, I let them go until the end of week 12 when they were probably ready in week 10. Did this cause me big problems? Not really. I lost a few buds to botritis but other than this danger there's no issue with leaving them 1-2 weeks longer.
