Harvest & Curing no flush and white ash

Read Spear, my favorite canna author says:

"Plants don't care what you feed them, ions are ions."

The benefits of organic growing is, its much better than manufactured nutes for the environment, and its simple to use. And its the ultimate form of recycling!

Was your recent AutoPot grow organic?

Plants don't care what you feed them, ions are ions.

Excellent! Thanks for this!! I understand the environmental aspect, and do think that it is important to take into account. :woody:

I also think it is important to be able to wade through the bullshit and understand exactly what the nutes we feed our plants do (and don't do...for that matter). I've read posts where people think that synthetic nutes are surely the thing that will finally kill off all us stoners!!:yoinks:

Sorry Hashmaster, but that's what they all say.... no one has ever proved it to me! Wish I could do a double blind test with anyone who makes this claim! After being told for 30+plus years that its true about flushing, people are very reluctant to believe the truth. But you can deny science all you want, the truth remains, there is nothing "chemical" in your plant that you can taste or smell.

There is NOTHING in the manufactured nute plant that can make it taste different. The mechanism that plants use to allow minerals and elements in is very complex and limits what ions can be taken in. also, complex chemical molecules are too big to to pass thru the the mechanism the root uses to pass needed nutrients through the root. Flushing does reduce sugars, however, your doing so at a time when your plants need them most! Curing breaks down the sugars, no need to kill your plant before its done!

Why not make a real experiment of it (if you have 2 of the same strain) and flush one thoroughly and on the second feed normally and after both dry and cure via the same method and decide for yourself ?

This, like most aspects of growing these weeds have many different ways to accomplish the same thing.

I myself can taste the difference between the smoke of flushed and not flushed. Some can, some can't, and some just have a personal preference.

These weeds store a certain amount of nutes and when you flush what you are actually doing is reducing that stored amount.

Some think this reduction produces a smoother smoke, some dont.

Long ago I did several side by side grows to test this. For my personal tastes I prefer flushed.

On some strains you may notice very little difference. On other strains you may notice a big difference.

But then again, that's IMHO and YMMV

great info @pop22 !!! id hit you with some rep for all this but im all tapped out haha i burnt a nice joint of my unflushed LSD thats been in the brown bag for 2 days then i put it in my degydrator for maybe 3-5 mins max and rolled it up and it burnt very well and no harsh tastte really.. it has a great burning smell and the taste is already coming out a little!

Nice! that early, its not unusual if it is a bit harsh, chlorophyll is the cause. That's why a 2 week cure taste so good! Peak of cure i think is around the 30 day mark. So the second jar is always better!
