Lighting No money, no common sense, no problem

So, I got a few parts in today and was able to get my first 1212 citizen light running. I have it running at 100 watts. It is MUCH more powerful than the 50's in the tent. It throws shadow without difficulty across all its coverage range. More light. things are getting better. Gonna have to start planning and quite piecing things together at this point. This one cob is running on a cheap Chinese 100w power supply so there is no savings in energy but I was able to do it on a shoestring and for now that was the biggest point. I will just walk down the hall and turn the thermostat down 1 degree to make up for the extra energy.

Wow 100 watts is a lot of power from the smaller cob. It can take it which is nice. Is it in an active cooked heatsink?

Yes it is mounted to a CPU tower cooler with a fan on. Heat pipes are working great because when I first fired it up I let it run a bit passive and the entire 6X3 head sink was nice a warm. Once the fan was fired it became just tepid to the touch.

And the light? I looked this morning and it was as if a General had walked by. Everyone had reoriented their leaves to her as the main source of light. The tent just exploded with this one light. I think this is where it will stand for now but I have started thinking seriously about what 3 more citizens would do in this space. The other lighting can be moved to the starter Cabinet. Beginning to think the weight numbers could go up.

And pop22 was absolutely right about the differences in light between the cheap cobs and the better ones. But I am happy with what they were doing considering the situation. I definitely could see using these chips as side lights in a bigger space.

That's great pudden. Sometimes you just have to see it to believe it. Ialwas refer back to my first Cree 2530 light made from a mars hydro 600. Was love at first sight. Efficiency is real.

How's things going puddentane? How's the new cob?

Things are plodding along. Got a second 1212 running now at 50Watts and I am very pleased with the difference. It really made the CalMag problem accelerate as well. I upped my calmag and it has seemed to settle down. The two lights have transformed the way in which these plants are flowering. Buds deeper in the bush are easier to coax out with a few well tucked leaves now. I have a Girl Scout Cookie that is looking like it will go off like a mophead hydrangea. I extended my nitrogen cycle as had been mentioned and it has given me more points of flower and bulk in general. They look to be all of 90 days. The other 2 are probably 2-3 weeks out.

That's great! Victor from Amare always said plants will need more magnesium due to the rapid increase in photosynthesis from a co plate spectrum and efficient lighting. Nevermind auto flowering plant lol.

Well, I am up to running three citizen 1212's 2 at 50 watts and one at 100 watts. I still have the Mars 300 running along with 4 chinese onboard driver cobs at 50 watts and 1 dual wire 50 watt cob. All are warm white. I am pretty happy with results per dollar spent.

This is my favorite thread on all of afn. Now to see such nice buds in there makes it even better. Not ready for xmas but it looks like it's well worth the wait.
