Indoor Nomis' Auto Pounder with Cheese LED Fox Farm Grow

Your plant looks great Nomis ... I think the couple small spots and minor twisting is a sign that one or two of the roots ran into something that they didn't like in the soil ...

ph going in should be lower, like 6.2 going in. As the medium dries, it goes up!!! 6.2 in will go through the range up to 6.7 and hit all the sweet spots and will go back down the day you water. That, and 5ml. per gallon of cal/mag will bring her right back!!! Most soil/soiless mediums come close to 7 ph right out of the bag. You can also amend with a tbl. spoon of Aluminum Sulfate per gallon of medium to help bring the ph down quickly. Growing photos, you have time to do it in veg and part of flower. Autos you dont. I would invest in a Accurate 8 soil probe and NEVER have to guess with soil/soiless mediums again!!! Just my "My 2 cents". If you dont have one, well worth the investment!!!

Hey Briman, thanks for the input. I may pick up the Accurate 8 seeing as everyone loves them. I have a few cheapo models that we all know dont work, so rely on my PH pen and runoff.
I'm more worried about watching the soil turn acidic based on my previous use of FF products. I'm pretty well prepared over here though I think. I even have a second container with the same soil that I'm using to compare runoff with each planned watering. We'll see how it all goes.

Sounds like you got it under control. I hate soil/soilless problems. The Accurate 8 IS a great tool. Probe the soil, some simple math with feed ph and you sh*t is fixed the FIRST time. Takes all the guess work out of the equation!!! Rock this grow out man!!! have been looking at this strain since it came out. :peace:

Day 14 / End of Week 2 - She's doing her thing and spitting out growth nicely. The leaf spacing seems to be what I was looking for so I can LST with ease. The stem appears to be hardening up. She's still running on Veg/Low power setting on the LED light @ 22" from the top of the plant. I've been adding a little cal/mag to the spring water, and yesterday she got a little over 1/2 gallon and drained pretty quickly.

I've never grown indoors in the summer months before, and somehow totally forgot how hot it can get in my house under a slate roof. Temperature control will therefore be an issue that may become tough to control. Currently @ 77f/70%rh for now though :)

Day 19 - Middle of the week

Things have been going well here so far. She's 4" tall and on her 5th set of main fan leaves. Almost ready for some LST. The LED light is on full power as of day 15 @ 190watt draw, 24" from canopy. I'm going to lower to 18" in increments over the next few days and watch for any light burn. She's also spinning on a electric lazy susan now, because it's pwn.

I picked up the Accurate 8 pH probe finally. Soil ph is 6.5 in the top, but gets down to 5.2 in the bottom of the container. I added 2 tablespoons of dolomite lime into the top half inch of soil and topped that with some remaining Happy Frog soil to hopefully ward off any impending doom. 1/2 gallon spring water in and out was 6.5 with 1/4 tsp cal/mg. I'm gonna cut out the cal/mg now that the lime is added in.

Looks nice! Seems optimal to start compact and bushy...once the stretch comes, it spaces out to a perfect structure...not to lanky...great for light efficiency!

Weird to have that large of a discrepancy in the pH so early...so it's not nute or salt build up...was your soil "off" out of the bag?

yeah man, the FFOF was low, the Happy Frog was a bit high, so mixed the two together. I had low ph early on in my last grow so want to nip it in the bud Woops

Day 23 - Week 4 - I'm really quite pleased with her progression so far, every leaf is looking great. She's beginning to drink more, pH is awesome, temps and humidity have been great too. I've used a total of 2 gallons of oxygenated spring water so far and haven't fed any nutes yet aside from the initial cal/mg. She's spitting out 7 fingered leaves now and is 6.5" tall. The LED light continues on 24/0, and prolly will keep this throughout the grow. There's already a noticeable weed smell emanating from the closet. I'll may actually get my noisy carbon filter rig up and running finally. I've never really had to use it much, but this girl seems like she's gonna stank up the entire house pretty soon.

Thanks for looking!
