the long and short of it is no not really,stick to what works and thats a fan/filter.
Will it keep the smell just in the room theyre in?

the fan/filter ? if you grow in a tent or cupboard using a fan/filter there should be no smell in the room,just the tent/cupboard.
ozone generators are well kinda hard to explain.but if nobody but nobody uses them,it must be for a reason other than cost which isnt that much.
