Grow Mediums Oh No..BayLee420 Going Hydro

Wasn't worth it. I'd be fighting a battle for a crappy yield. Photo's maybe, but an Autoflower just wants to go. No errors. Learned a lot. Going with the last two Amnesia Haze Auto. @HotBunz is got something on the Grow space. Plus, I promised an Amnesia Haze Auto Grow.

Already in the works.

Hope this one works better for ya, feel like I may have jinxed it with my earlier comment, my apologies brother. Sending you goods vibes and positivity.

This is my 1st Grow dump. I've had mold on Guerrilla grows or cull a male.
This my very 1st WTF!!! In the trash without a blink of an eye.
They would look good for a day or so. Newish growth, but not the rockets that we would expect. The PPM's going wild. The pH unstable. With hardly any nutrient in the solution. Had to be the roots inside the net pots. Tipped them this morning and it was as if they were sitting on a rotting mass.
The drip system was not a good idea for a first time DWC Grow. Just overwatered them. Added crap that shouldn't be added to the reservoir. Just plain Noobie mistakes.

This next Grow will be lessons' learned.

What would going sterile entail?

All you really need to do is either replace or stop using any organics and use a sterilizing agent like UC Roots. Organics in hydro is harder to manage. You have to keep the right balance and when it's out, you get slime or other root issues. Sterile isn't 100% sterile. If it were, the roots couldn't grow and thrive. If you start with a clean system a good sterilizing agent will act as a preventive, a weaker dose that will kill the nastys without harming the plant. pH is generally more stable and the roots are nice and white. To me, it's the best way to go, especially for those new to hydro. No tea to mess with and virtually no root issues. It also makes problem diagnosis a lot easier, not having the root issues to consider.

Amnesia Haze Auto Redo

The last of the Amnesia Haze Auto beans have sprouted a day ago. They are resting in the 5" net pots with a 60 watt Daylight CFL and will have a few days to grow up before being placed in the DWC.

Amnesia Haze Auto Redo

My Tapatalk app seems to go off and on to the Hydro thread. I haven't been able to update the Amnesia Haze Auto (AHA-2) Grow.
Good news. The Girls have been in the DIY DWC for 6 days. They have started to show root growth coming out of the 5" net pots.

Did some major changes to the DWC reservoir. I had a temperature pocket probe that is used in culinary food safety. It was the old style "dial" probe; not digital. The probe was way off in accuracy. The probe showed that the water temp was @ 68F when in fact it was 73F. Brought my laser hand held temp gun from work and that's how I found out the Rez was too warm.

Have Deli cups from the restaurant that we use to store product and for mis en place. 16oz, 32oz and 64oz. Got thousands of them. Rebuilding the Rez with Deli cup holders to hold 32oz frozen water Deli cups.

Now this is just an experimental Rez. With the placement of Deli cup holders in the Rez corners. I'll see where the best placement of the frozen Deli cups to bring down the Rez temp.

Added one 32oz frozen Deli cup to the current Rez. The water temp is now 63F. Changing them when the temp goes above 68F.

I know a water chiller is a better idea, but that is not practical at the moment.

Note: Within 24 hours of the Rez temp staying @ 63-68F has exploded or quickly produced root growth.

Have you insulated your res that should keep your temps a bit more stable I've tried top feeding in dwc before I find the pump just adds heat to the res I was running my res about your temps but was using sm90 and cannazyme to stop anything bad going on in the res but with that combo you can't use any beneficial bacteria and if your temps get over 80 it limits the amount of oxygen your plants can absorb

My grow room is in my Den. The Den's windows that are used to control the Den's temp is taking air from outside. The Den is facing a large wooded area. Sure there is all kinds of wood mold or bacteria coming into the room. Keeping the Rez temp low is going to be a must. Have a room air cleaner, but no more open electrical outlets to plug it in. The good thing is the windows can be closed now. Keeping the Den cool to keep the Grow cool is not necessary now. I'll open the intake/outtake fans on just to bring fresh air in, but they are not on 24/7.
Keeping top of Grow at 75F to 78F and the Rez temp at 63F-68F.

No more Top Feeding. Just DWC. Taking @Muddy's advice and going to use UC Roots. Should be here today or tomorrow.
The bottom of the Rez is below the Grow area. It's wedged in snuggly. I was going to insulate it, but no room to do it.

My life is work, Beagle loving and Canna growing.
Got plenty of time to keep the Grow cool. Change the 32oz frozen cups every four hours. Check the Grow more than that.
I'll just sit in the Den; open the Armoire and just watch the "Grass Grow".
My life is so boring.
Will have pics of the Grow at the next Rez change.
