Hey all my peaceful friends.

I have my first plant growing at the moment and we are watering it like every 4- 5 days. So my question is can I leave the plant without water for 7 days? Or can I do something so that the soil keeps the water for a longer time? Like putting little cups upside down on the soil so that it keeps the water longer?

Here a picture of the plant so you know how tall it is and stuff. The plant is just in the sun when there is sun otherwise it is in the closet.

Given the size of your plant and the size of your pot, watering every 4-5 days might be too often, so 7 days shouldn't be a problem. Small plant in big pots take a long time to dry out.

* NOOB answer disclaimer *

From everything ive read here you can let them go as long as needed so long as they aren't starting to show adverse effects from lack of water ( wilting etc ). Most of the time a less is more mentality prevails in regards to how often to water. Just ensure you're watering enough to get a 10% runoff when you do water and get a literal "Feel" to how heavy the pots are when they have been watered thoroughly by picking them up and getting a good mental gauge. Then over the next few days to a week pick them up and feel the weight. Over the course of a few waterings you'll get to know exactly when your girls need the watery love. Its actually a good thing to let them dry out a bit between waterings because it causes the roots to actively reach out and search for the water in the soil leading to a more robust root structure. Just be aware that when they are in the seedling stage you want to take it easy on the watering as the soil usually holds more water than they will use for a bit, just a light spritzing at the base with ph'd water once a day to every other day should suffice at that point.

Any pros on here feel free to correct me since im still on my first grow myself, and hence still learning. This was just one part of it i felt i had a relatively good grasp on.

Good luck with the grow buddy, good vibes and lotsa green karma your way! :smokebuds:

What you need is those vacation watering plant spikes. Attach a soda bottle of water and stick it in the soil. They only release the water when the soil dries out. If the soil does not, they will still be full months later. A simple security device for never losing plants to under watering.

I personally wouldn't use one of those ( just my opinion ) I like to let them get a bit dry to ensure fresh oxygen is getting to the roots and to let the roots stretch into the new water at the bottom of the pot. Just my 2c.

Keep rolling up ;)
