Grow Room Open Source Grow Cube

I would leave the filter outside. More moisture in the filter will cause it to eat up the carbon faster IMO!! less moisture, longer life!! Also, I would cover your cubes with hydroton because of the mold and bacteria issues on your cubes! My :tiphat:

Thanks everyone. I had the filter on the outlet side of the blower motor and outside the tent but there was still a lot of odor. I've switched it to the opposite end of the system (it is now having the air sucked through it.) It may be the quality of the filter. The filter and fan are Amazon specials. What's a reliable brand of carbon filter?

Briman, Thanks for the suggestion. I did end up covering the rockwool with hydroton to shade it. I am running SM-90 in the res to combat slime.

Jack, personal preference on the Rhino!!! There are some Killer filters out there, and they are all price and mindful to each grower. That having been said, Rhino, Phresh, Can filter, Goblin, Phat filter, the list goes on, BUT, I would go with something a little more reputable than the amazon cheapie!!You get what you pay for!!! Also, if your filter is not up to working properly, in between grows, you can take it apart and let it dry out for a couple days, wash the outside pre-filter and AIR dry it, put it all back together. That should help. If it doesn't, you need a new filter. I have ran the same Phresh filter in my tent for 2 years and change the prefilter 1/2 way through each grow, and when my grow is over, I pull it out of the tent and air out for a few days, while my new beans sit in a shotglass doin their thing!! Hope this helps!!

No apologies needed Jack!! It mostly boils down to what you have available in your area and shipping!!! Where I live, shipping is sometimes more than the product I'm buying!!! Sucks, but what ya gonna do?? But, you have me doing a google search on the rhino as we speak!!!

i have used can-filters for years typically works for 2 years in my little dr40. Filter is outside the tent :-)
They can be refilled with new carbon pellets. ALSO the cheap ones "Economy line"
They make them in plastic also. (cheaper postal).

Started Grow nutes at 100% as prescribed by Technaflora.

Don´t go 100% way to much / early.
"My 2 cents"
Keep it up

Thanks KsjAuto, I may try a second filter on the outside. I just couldn't control the odor with the filter outside. As for the nutes I had so many deficiency issues my first grow that I want to try using what Technaflora says will work. I appreciate the warning. I'll keep you posted.
