This strain review is an older one summer of 2016
SeedBank : PeakSeedsBC
Strain: Skunkberry Skunk#1XBlueberry
Soil/hydro: Soil in the ground
Nutes: One shopping bag of well rotted horse manure., followed up with
trio and bloom trio for bloom phase.(3 gallons every 4 days)
Light: 24/7 under X4 T8 flouro's for 30 days then in the ground on June the 1st.
How Long in Veg? 3 months
Dry Yield: 4oz
High/Effect Duration: Very nice combined head and especially body stone. I find I always get a nice creativity inducing high from this pot.
Medical effect if applicable: Works fair for pain control on upper spine injury. Works well as a distraction from pain though. Over indulgence works fairly well for inducing sleep.
In-depth
RATE SCALE: 1 being the worst 10 being the best
BAG APPEAL: 8/10 - Nice crystal on the tight unfinished buds. Due to the late finish there was some temp colouring due to frost and even a weekend of snow.
THE GROWTH: 9/10 - In full sun, this strain would be absolutely huge, as advertised on the peak website. Even in vey limited sun(8 hours tapering down to 6) this plant still got over 6 feet tall and over 15 feet around the outer perimeter.
THE GROWTH/Mold resistance: 8/10 -...I found the skunkberry strains to be very tough plants capable of resisting the worst of late season conditions.
THE GROWTH/Outdoor finishing time: 4/10 - This was a big disappointment for me. The strains outdoor finish time were very hit and miss with most not being finished at all around the 10th-15th off oct.(I grew out 5 of this strain)
THE SMELL: 5/10 - Every seed in my pack was skunk dominant in smell and flavour. Very slight berry smell but quite minimal. Not super strong in either smell.
THE SMOKE: 6/10 - Nice strong smoke on the few that finished in time.
THE HIGH: 7/10 - Good strong high. More of an upbeat high on the early chops.
Additional Info:
Here is an early preflower pic of this 2016's skunkberry. I ended up pulling only 4z's due to forced early chop.
Final Thoughts - I would pass on growing this strain again as it's finish times just aren't stable enough to grow in my outdoor setup and finish.
