i mixed up some gb and water phd at 6.9 and my runoff was 5.1.does this mean my soil is 3.3.that cant be good, could someone please help, should i flush or what?they look awesome right now but i got a feelin they wont for long
heya faded.....im not a pro like u asked for.....but......IMO ur soil is close to 5 ph...after a few waterings ph will climb up to 6+...how big is ur pot, and how old is ur plant?
3 gallon pots 29 days old, thanks yellow its already goin back up.i went and bought cheap soil ph tester and it reads 4.8 now so i was thinkin on just runnin another plain phd 6.9 water.what do you think?
Hey man. What is gb?
And generally cheap ph testers will give you cheap results too. A liquid drop tester is always accurate and usually better than a cheap meter. But it gets hard to tell the colors when you have soil from runoff or nutes in it.
As stated, just keep feeding around 7 and it will pull it up. I'll be around if you need me later. :smokebuds:
its kinda hard - for me at least (the amateur) - to manage the ph around 6-7 in big pots...my soil is around 5,5 and i always have the same runoff at 5 the first 1st week...after 3-4 waterings everything is back to normal on about 6,5 ph nice warm green(for my liquid tester) not the piss like yellow of 5 - 5.5 lol...a pic would be great...cheers
i was using florabella potting soil with added ferts 14:16:18 5,5 - 6,5 ph......now im mixing it with perlite and organic soil with no ferts 6,8 ph...if ur talking to me
Water with dolemite lime 1tsp per gal. It's a slow fix as is any ph issue in soil but it will save the plant.
Personally I've found that ph run off is a waste of time. Always comes out very low for me and my plants stay fine. Only time I've had ph problems is when I reused my soil without adding lime. If your plants are showing no signs of problems why fix what isn't broke.
Here's some good info on ph.....
If your runoff pH is higher than your starting pH, use this equation to determine your soil pH:*
Soil pH = Runoff pH + Difference
If your runoff pH is lower than your starting pH, us this equation:
Soil pH = Runoff pH - Difference.
For example, say your the starting pH of your solution before it goes in is 6.5 and the pH of your runoff is 7.0. The difference is +0.5, so using the above equation:
Soil pH = 7.0 + 0.5*
Soil pH = 7.5
If your starting pH is 6.5 and your runoff is 6.0, your difference is -0.5 and using the above equation:
Soil pH = 6.0 - 0.5
Soil pH = 5.5
