Hello AFN!

Im about ready to start my first grow and im just trying to get my ducks lined up.

I have an Opera PH test kit with the 4/7 calibration stuff and ph up/down

My question is how do I actually test PH with the thing?

I have nutes (fox farm) so I would put the nutes into filtered water and then measure the PH of the that water/nute mixture shortly before I put it on the plant correct?

And im going for a PH level of 6-6.5 for soil?

So prep water, test that water and add ph up/down to that water PRIOR to watering the plant.

Or. Do I stick the PH tester into the dirt itself?
Or. Do I test the run off water after I water?

Thanks!

What kinda soil are u using. First thing to do is check your tap water pH. 6.3 to 7 is good for soil. Then after you mix your feed (1/4 strength starting out) around day 20 - 25 you check that pH. It needs to be 6.3 -7. Don't worry about testing run off yet. Get the basics first .do not stick your pen into soil ever. If your tap water is between 6.3 and 7 or even close you could buy advanced nutrients pH perfect nutes that are pH stable and never have to worry about pH again. The first things you need to figure out is when to water and how much. Light distance, temperature, and rh. It's good your trying to stay on the ball but just take baby steps and you will do fine. Happy growing my friend
