You can run H2O2 through the system with the plants in there it should be strong enough to take out the algea without hurting the plants. You may also want to switch to a regular ph adjusting product. I believe things like vinegar do not have additional buffering capabilities (Carbonates?) so it can cause wider swings as conditions change in the res.
How strong would you run H2O2? I used about 1.5 ounce per gallon. Blocked out light, used algae killer for koi ponds, changed water a few times, and it seems to be stabilizing. Bought PH down, and will start using that now. It was easier for me to use DWV, when there were large swings.
