Ive been growing without measuring PH up until now and had not had any problems. I think I have a Nitrogen deficiency and possibly a PH issue. I have ordered a PH meter and it should be here shortly. I cant seem to find any stickies regarding measuring and regulating PH. Any links to stickies, info on PH ranges and how to raise or lower would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Your ph meter should have directions on how to use it.Your PH should be between 6 and 7 and preferably around 6,5.General Hydroponics sells PH up and down,Checkout growweedeasy.com f or a lot of great info.

should also get calibrating fluid at same time as ph pen.an un-calibrated ph pen is no better than them coloured strips.time spent on shelf or a knock can easily put the reading off.
could get both ph up and down, but you will find that if you do need to adjust ph it will normally only be in the one direction.ooh did i just say a boyband?

archie I had to read that twice....boy band ...too funny.

Blue lab sells a pH pen, which allows you to directly measure the pH in your rootzone. If you would be using a regular pH-pen, the correct thing to do would be to gather dirt from the bottomside of your pot and gather about 60 ml. of soil and mix it with 90 ml. of RO-water (1:1,5 extraction method). Mix it leave it for 24h and measure pH.

Make sure you calibrate your pH pen about once every week. The pH pen is best stored in Potassium Chloride (make sure you rinse it properly before use!!)

For your nutrient solution try to keep the pH between 6,0 - 6,5 when using Terra for optimal intake.

To lower your pH you have in general the choice between:

* Nitric Acid (lowering pH + extra nitrogen for your plant).
* Phosporic Acid (lowering pH + extra Phosporus for your plant).
* Citric Acid (lowering pH organically, less strong than the 2 mentioned above but leaves your nutrient balance untouched).

* Potassium Hydroxide or Potassium Oxide (raising pH, adding extra Potassium)
* Potassium Silicate (raising pH + giving your plant extra silicon)

Are you sure it is a pH problem you have?? Did you upper your dose on the Terra?? "Stirring"
