A light meter app is good for finding the edges of your light footprint, to give you a better idea if coverage. Beyond that I doubt its if much use.

It seems to. I just use it to check the level of intesity of light that the branches furthest away from the center of my led panel are getting, as opposed to those branches closest to the center. I actually spoke with a member that did have some type of light meter, and he compared the feedback he got from that, to the feedback he got from the app, and he said the light meter was actually more than just a gimmick
