New Grower Please help!

Well the plant is only a week old so it should be nutrients in the soil still I'm guessing.

Yeah, I think we were both wondering if you had added to the soil medium mix before planting.....Lime, Mycos, Superthrive, Miracle Grow Perlite...whatever to see if it was an amendment problem....

You probably over watered. Can't think of what else it could be since its just FFHF out of the bag.

You will definitely need to know the pH of your tap water if you're gonna use it. Same with any water really. Tap water pH can be so extreme... One way or the other.

MJ is a hardy plant. You may not lose her. I just wouldn't water right away until you find out your pH...

Best of luck friend

Just to fill in the blanks, Kush, what are your temps, and how close was the light?

Again I was going to get a thermostat & ph tester but the guy told me with the setup I have I shouldn't need one. He said If I was using a 400 or 600w I would prob need that but he said since im only using 150 hps it should stay cool & to just leave the tent open when the lights are on. But then again he doesn't know what I'm growing. Would I need to get thermostat to?

My lights are about a foot away from my plants I have Hw fast & vast going & its doing fine. Planted at the same time as the dark devil & I watered on the same schedule & its green, no yellowing at all. Its really frustrating.

Yer using Fox farm eh?Ive been hearing nothing but bad about them for sometime now.some of their soils have major PH issues as of late.with a fully and properly cooked oganic mix your not going to burn it just cuz you water it,unless added to(ie"Tea,EWC,top coat)the water or soil. But they have had major quality control issues for awhile, so along with PH and what looks like being bleached by light too..?Crispy lookin n dehydrated.

I know ya dont wanna do this cuz ya wanna grow, but if it were me,Id tear that small one down, reamaned your FF soil with some Dolimite lime n keep it moist for 2-3 weeks and test the soils PH.Plus check your Lights height as well.Im guessing you got air flow?or did the leaves start cookin?Plus that'll give you time to get a liquid PH meter n figure a couple things out.But thats what I would do...sorry for your troubles dude.Best of luck."AFN smoke out""AFN smoke out"

Edit: :roflcry: gotta love it...same times posting..lol.

Thanks, do you think bottled water will be okay until I can get a ph tester

Yep. Those are must haves, no matter what your setup. You can get a cheap digital that reads both temp and humidity. Those are both very important! Until you have one, put the back of your had under the light for a bit, at the distance you keep it from your gal. Hot hand = hot gal (and not in a good way:grin:).
The one thing you can do without spending a dime is stop listening to that guy. He might mean well, but he gives bad advise.
:Sharing One:

Ohhhhhh....Well, I think your guy may have led you astray....can you put your hand right under the bulb and leave it there without it getting uncomfortably hot?

I know 150W HPS isn't a lot, but it's still an incandescent bulb...12" may be way too close for a seedling.

Just so it's clear, 3 different types of pH testers have been mentioned now

Soil Probe (Accurate 8) - measures the pH of soil

Test Strip kit - solution and litmus paper for generally testing water or feed solution pH (For testing liquid)

Liquid pH Meter - a digital (pen) that measures liquids way more accurately

I know it gets overwhelming fast...but you HAVE to know what's going on in order to fix it. You just add to the toolbox when you can....

The soil probe can't measure your water and the liquid testers/meters can't measure your soil (directly)

Good Luck man! (or woman, whatever the case may be :)

:-( aww, tell me its not so . I have a 9 in fan I think in the tent. I have two autos in the tent but the dark devil is the only one giving me problems. I really don't want to give up on it.
