Given a typical autoflowering mainly Indica plant (if ever there was one) as opposed to a dwarf variety what size of pot would you use to get one ounce of herb dry? I would prefer not to top or LST and keep flowering starting around 3 weeks as per most auto's.

As I gather you can influence size of plant using a smaller pot. I wish to keep mine smaller and more stealthy and wanted to know what pot size to use to get 1 ounce per plant but keep them reasonably low and stealthy. Under 2 feet high above pot if possible.

Am I living in cloud cuckoo land with this idea ? Do they need to grow tall to get 1 ounce?

I found this volume calc useful (use cylindrical if you have round pots) :

http://www.dmplastics.ca/volume_calculator.htm

My normal pots are about 10inches diameter by 8inches deep. About 10L

Also does the depth vs the width affect the size of the plant?

I know thats quite a complex question but any help appreciated.

Ina nutshell:

I want 1 ounce per plant dry, short plants and wonder what the smallest pot I could use to get that result with a basic but good Indica autoflower strain ? (Paradise Seeds Wappa Auto to be exact)

This can be done.

I suggest you use a 15L round pot with a 35% perlite to 65% soil ratio, use premium soil. Also you really should Low Stress Train the plants, it's very easy and takes minimal work.
It'll keep the plant a lot more shorter for you too and it'll provide more light to the central nodes, which means more buds and bigger buds.

Regarding the pot, when the seed first germinates it has whats called a 'tap root' and when that tap root hits the bottom of the pot, that will indicate how large the plant will be. So if you
have a pot that's very deep, the plant's tap root will take slightly longer to reach the bottom and therefore the plant will of-course, be much bigger, if its a large pot, but it's not really deep it'll
still have a big plant, but just not as big as a deep pot.

Hope this assisted you :)

Thanks.. it has sort of. I find it immensely interesting how the pot depth can influence the height of the plant and the more we know about this factor the better we can grow for our own sepcific conditions.

So it seeems it would be a good plant to comprehend LST for Autoflowers.

If anyone has a "idiots guide to LSTing an autoflower" I would be incedibly grateful.

thx

Most Autos should be vegged for 5-6 weeks:thumbs: IMO

With your question i have grown 2 plants in a 4L airpot and still got 2 OZ lol I would suggest using like a 3L Reg pot or a small airpot about 3L if you wana keep them small or start your flower nutes early to keep it small but not sure of the yeild:dance:

Thanks quite a difference in recommendation 15L vs 3L !! (a factor of x5)

Seems tricky to know what to do.

Will check out LST info namvet25.

You can push an ounce out of it and keep it short and non space consuming by LSTing (Trust me. It's good)

I highly recommend you go for the 15L pots. 3L is no-where near what the plant requires. Minimal is 10L if you really want to push it.

I once had 4 "60DayWonder"s on my balcony in 4 different Pot sizes to find out which one was the best yielding size

2l,5l,7l and 10l ....

10l gave me 30g of dry bud
7l about 20
5l about 10
2l about 5

So my 2cents:
Bigger potsize,bigger yield
(Dont know if theres a "too big" for autos)

Mfg
Fab

An excellent guide to follow. 10L is okay. But i recommend 15L.
