So my ballast and all other appliances in my grow room have shut off unexpectedly shut off while I was vacuuming upstairs. Now the room which I was growing in has lost all power and the room directly above has lost power and the room adjacent to the upstairs room has lost power also but only those 3 rooms. All other rooms still have power. I think what happened was that adding the vacuum to the list of other appliances I was running at the time shorted out a circuit? Maybe. Any help or advice would be much appreciated, thank you.

Just aking the obvious, Cheese, have you checked to see if a breaker has tripped?

yeah sounds like ya kicked a breaker

check ur breaker or fuse mate, i tripped a breaker running too much shit at the start of my grow, if the breaker keeps tripping then that particular circuit has a short circuit, first of all it could be one of the appliances faulting it out so go through everything and unplug it all then plug something that is working on the other circuit into one of those outlets to see if that works, then u have a prob with an appliance not ur house, if it still doesn't work u need a qualified sparky to find out whats wrong.

I haven't checked anything yet. It happened this morning as I was getting ready for work so I had to leave or I'd have been late for work. So I will need to check when I get home in a couple hours. I haven't the slightest clue about breakers and electricity stuff. So if that is the problem then i would just need any input on how I would fix that problem.

The breaker is a switch in your switchboard, if u have an older house u may have fuses in which case a fuse would have blown and will need to be replaced. If the switch turns straigh back off then something has an actual problem and it wasnt too much shit running. Just unplug everything on that circuit and turn the breaker back on, then check the lights on that circuit, if they work start plugging thing back in (if the breaker turns off or the lights dont wotk u have a problem), if the breaker turns off when u plug and turn on a certain thing then that appliance may have a short circuit within it.

Could be so many thing, just try the breaker first and let us know and we can fault find from there.

Also, any advice as to how to not let this happen again would be appreciated. Should I use different outlets for some appliances or what?
