Hey all,

I am currently doing my first greenhouse grow and am already thinking towards winter! :)

I have been looking at low-heat light sources and am thinking about getting a couple of these

Does anyone have any experience using them that can say it is a good/bad idea?

I did do a little reading on LED but due to all of rubbish hardware and utterly mixed reviews, I think I will leave it!

Thanks guys!!!!!!

you can get better cfl bulbs for $20 each on amazon so no dont waste your money on that in particular. also home depot sells four(4) 23-watt CFLs for $5

i would suggest reconsidering cfls though. on my first grow just recently i used like 200w-300w combined of cfl 2700k only one or two inches from my plant and yielded 10g from two plants, both top of the line genetics. now my growing container was small, and i used no nutrients.cfls will cost less than led, but you will get less out of the plant. they have such bad penetration its just not meant for growing a plant. if you are going to grow more than a few times, dont use cfl. i am getting an led light now, the 200w model by california light works. it is american manufactured hardware with 5w diodes that can penetrate the canopy.

but if you need cheap input cfls are good... and i was using a lot of smaller cfls, perhaps one large 250w feliz would be different. its worth a try if money isnt a problem

Thanks 6700 - Damn it! I liked the thought of these powerplant lights.. :/

I liked the thought of LEDS until I read all of the horror grow stories... Another problem is cash.. I am also in the UK so getting them from the States might me a no-no.. Will need to have a look :)

Thanks again,

MaG

Hi MaGikal :)

Take a look at the grow northern section here! It's a UK based LED company and i haven't seen a bad result yet. Loads of experienced growers are getting top results - check out Tangs results. The GN crew are really smashing it! ^_^
Not too pricey when you consider what a normal bulb life!

Hope this helps :)
