Harvest & Curing Pros/cons of drying wet vs dry?

when your tslking chem grows imo your more in need of that lengthy dry although leaving it on even in winter where Im at will sap that right outta there and if the bag method is done decent it works alright but i do like lovely shaped buds to play with.but if you dont mind square'ish buds sometime te bag method os prolly for you too.especially you you grow chem too imho.organics the long haul dry isnt needed as much and essential oils n things settle much quicker and nicer too imo but to trim it dry really really makes for a pain in the ass imo to do.it only really protect the meds from being bumped and some light blockage which being dark is kind of a big deal as ya prolly know..hope that help some man.. be good and happy chopping man:ama: :Sharing One:

You could dry them in your cab with the extraction fan on - That should help keep the humidity (and airflow to avaid mold) in check.

I've hung dried them ... Brown paper bagged them and now I use a drying net.

The drying net is the easiest but i had good results from the paper bag method too!

A general rule of thumbe for drying is 1 day per 10% RH plus 1 day. So at 50% huidiy it'll probably take 6 days before you can get a "snap" from a stem.

I'll jar them for a night at that point, but porbably put them back in the nets for 24 hours the next day if they go moist again. That's usually it. then just burp daily for a while to make sure (or get a boveda 62% pack and throw it in the Jar)

I bought a couple mini hygrometers for the jars... What numbers do I look out for to know when its time to burp?

If it rises a couple points fast? If it gets to 70rh or something? Or just when ever its over 60-62 ?

Hey, daddy I did a few tests with hygrometers a while back, and I found that, for the first few days, the rh would spike in jar to 70+%. So, I'd burp the jars for 10-15 mins 2x/day. After a week or so, it'd be fine (I put Boveda 62s in all my jars) at 60-62%, so I'd burp every other day. After 2 weeks, I only open them to savor the flavor.. lol I did those tests with 16 jars, and it rang true for all, and there were 3 different strains being cured. Hope that helps, Bro

First off - if the hygros are those small rectangular jobs that look like they were intended for installation into
a car's dashboard (i.e. - unfinished backs with side clips) BE CAREFUL and salt test/calibrate them. Mine were
WAY, WAY off. Youtube how to test with salt/water/tupperware.

Second, one burps due to chlorophyl build up in the jar so RH won't change in a manner that indicates the need to
burp.

You shouldn't really keep the bud in jars until you are around 65-66% RH - You can test that in a jar with a hygrometer...
if the RH is still too high, don't jar them yet.

As to burping, it's just something you should do every day for a couple minutes to release the build-up of chlorophyl
and continue doing so with diminishing frequency and duration as it begins to smell less "grassy" (as in lawn grass)

I, personally, use boveda 62 packs while undergoing this process (as well as general storage) because it aids in attempting
to maintain the perfect RH...62%

But what did u have to do ,do the salt test, and mark down the discrepancy and use it like that?

Yup.

I threw my little ones away because the discrepancies were so vast, and bought some mondi brand hygrometers.

"bin em" - throw them in the trash bin.

Not doggin' your equipment, just expressing the amount of frustration that I experienced with them.

Some of the most useful contraptions for judging how the curing process is going are;

Nose,
Eyes,
Fingers and
Good old Intuition.

Ears and taste are pretty redundant. But the above methods are the cheapest on the market.
