well, bugs have found my auto garden outside. I have some plants that are nearing 60 days. Can I use a pyrethrum based insecticide safely during flower??

What type of bugs arethey?

I honestly don’t know, for sure. I have those telltale tiny white spots of a spider mites on the top of the leaves but I can’t really see any, even with my loupe on the underside. I do see these little white things on the underside that look like microscopic grains of rice, for lack of a better description. Mostly they do t look like they’re moving but one did seem to move slightly this morning. Now, I found a couple of army worms on a plant last night and sprayed with BT. There are some tiny pinholes in some leaves and some bites out of some leaf edges that I’m attributing to the worms and some grasshoppers and crickets we have around.

We’ve been undergoing a very unusual rain event in our normally almost arid climate. We received over 24” of rain (our annual rainfall) over the past 2 weeks. So, everything is damp and humid here <—-not a normal situation for us. So, I think this is contributing to the bugs populations and I’m trying to stay ahead of problems. Nonetheless, something is feeding on my girls despite the use of Spinosad soap and Neem oil as prophylactic measures. I thought about spraying with Pyganic. I believe it’s sort of a broad-spectrum insecticide and I know it breaks down (UV sensitive) after 24-48 hours so it’s not supposed to leave any residue. It’s supposed to kill about 80% of population on contact.

I wish I had a USB microscope for pix but I don’t. I’ll try to take some leaf pix in a minute.

@namvet25 & @Waira Ok, here are some pix. I also just found some leaf miner trails, so I’m going to have to deal with that also. Ugh.

Here are the top sides of a couple lower fan leaves on the same plant:

Here’s the underside of one of the leaves after I plucked it:

Here’s the whole plant. It’s been yellowing lately but it got so wet during all the rain over the past 2 weeks I was afraid to feed. I just fed her today with a healthy dose of high N veg food plus some bloom nutes. Now I’m wondering if bugs don’t have something to do with the yellowing?

Here’s another plant with something else going on, while I’m asking for help. Lol. Can’t remember what these leaf symptoms (only a couple of leaves on the plant look like this) indicate:

It SO frustrating because I used to know all this stuff; but after a 25 year break from growing there’s so much I just can’t pull out of that dusty old file drawer. Lol!

Thanks again NamVet - for your service first, and for your help with this after that!

Waira- I have some MegaCrop enroute (per your suggestion) to help me with the yellowing. I just used some Bergman’s (ILGM) veg nutes to feed today. I had them laying around from a free sample I got and didn’t want to wait till the MC arrives on Friday. It’s 19-5-20

Growing outside you will have a few insect problems but they usually don't do much damage to cannabis.I do see some aphids and eggs so you can use pyrethum spray and spray tops and bottom of the leaves. It is not toxic to humans but i still would try to use it sparingly.Remove all the infected leaves and any leaves that are touching the soil. With all your rain it may have leeched all the nutrients out of the soil so take care of the bug s first and then do a feeding when you get the Mega Crop.

Thank you, Sir! I’ll do that!

..whitefly and/or aphids, on the undersides,.. not sure about the necrotic spotting, likely a transient pest like leaf hoppers,... outside you'll have a lot of vermins! ... pyrethrum is ok if you give it a week before harvest,.. a spinosad containing product (Capt'n Jacks Dead Bug for example) is better still,...low residues are key when in bloom, otherwsie Azamax, neem, botanical oil-based stuff, is fine too... if the buds are mucked up, just chop out the fouled stuff, nothing but dead shit, actual shit and molt casting in there!

So, those little white things that look like microscopic grains of rice are “whiteflies?” Do you see mites in the picture? I couldn’t see anything with legs or that seemed to be moving so, while I suspected spider mites due to symptoms, I thought that was an incorrect diagnosis on my part. Is it possible that the Spinosad soap I had used on them had killed them already; and that I was looking at their dead carcasses?

I’ve got some Spinosad soap. You think that’d be better than a pyrethrum based product? Thankfully there doesn’t seem to be any bud damage so far. Tomorrow I’m going to defoliate some as the buds are getting kinda cluttered and I want to enable more airflow to minimize more problems. Then I’ll give them some Spinosad soap. They got BT today for an attack by an army of Army Worms that’s ongoing! I’m planning to get some PFR-97 (20% WDG) and some Grandevo (chromobactrrium subtsugae strain PRAA4-1T) but I have to save up some before I can afford them. They’re expensive but, from what I can tell from researching them, they’re amazing products that are extremely effective and innovative. There’s a pretty great video (I’ve got some faith in) on these and some other organic pest remedies here:

I think, pic doesn't show it well,.. are all those dead, or mashed? Whitefly is unmistakable, tiny white flyers,.. might be aphids too, so you tell me.. google images and see,....
...spinosad will work on the caterpillars too, and you can also use a Bt product (Bacillus thuringiensis).. none of these kill on contact, and the bacterial ones must be ingested first to kill by infection,... spinosad will sicken them right away and cause them to go off feed, then die....
