Slight New Years hi-jack, Rebel, but I know this is right up your alley:

I had to work on New Years Eve. Till 6 in the morning New Years Day. It was cool- I had my son with me and he helped out a lot and we rang in 2013 with some Dragon and Blueberry... It was real fun! Shift is over, driving home...

I live in a beautiful mountainous region that makes driving a pleasure if you stay off the highways and interstates and stick to the smaller roads with lots of deep valleys and serpentines along ridges and spurs through forests and farmland. It was still dark outside throughout the half hour drive home. The sky was clear, black, and the stars were shining. The air is also clear and I can see all the little villages snug in their pine blankets all through the landscape. My high beams let the frost covered asphalt flicker and gleam like snow under a full moon. Ian Anderson is singing to me about Wise Men not knowing how it feels to be Thick As a Brick on the radio while my son is in the passenger seat nodding off every few minutes- he keeps jerking his head back up, trying to fight the Blueberry. LOL

Imagine my surprise when a white, cloud like, misty... ball?... round, the height of a grown man, nebulous, like thick fog, concentrated on my side of the road. I hit the brakes and swerved. ABS did it's job nicely and my heart is pounding! This is right in the middle of one of my son's nods, so he didn't catch any of it.

Here's where it gets all weird. I immediately thought of you, Rebel. I was pretty freaked out and was wondering, "What would Rebel do?". I figured you'd probably do a spin right on the spot and go back and see what the f*ck that was! But before I could really even gather my thoughts, while coming around a spur of this one mountain, I see a red glow through the trees in the direction of where the apex of the curve of the road would be while driving around the spur. It was very dark and the red light, or whatever it was, was in the trees and blinking on and off because of the trees blocking and un-blocking my view of it. I couldn't really get a good look because I have to watch the frosty road and there's always the danger of deer, foxes, and cows just standing in the way. Half of my thoughts are of you sitting in the passenger seat and getting really pumped, getting into Ghost Hunter Mode! But stopping was not an option! Nebulous, concentrated fog and a red glow through the trees? I need to be home, now!

I was reminded of Red Eye. He was a Big-Foot like entity that scared the hell out of us cub scouts, seems a hundred years ago, at the camp ground in our tents at night. You guys ever hear of Red Eye?

I come around the spur and now there's a high ridge above the right side of the road and a deep, narrow valley to my left. Across this narrow valley hang high tension power lines with a damn red light in the middle so airplanes and choppers don't get caught in the cables!!! Argh! One puzzle solved. Relief!

One part of this particular route home is very secluded, in the middle of a protected area of very dense vegetation- pines, oaks, birch, beech, granite and moss... very lovely. In this area there is also a small, half dilapidated cabin. It's fenced in and once in a great while, there'll be a car or a jeep parked by it, but I've never seen any people around. We call this stretch of road Elm Street and the cabin we call Freddy's Hideaway.

This cabin is situated around a bend in the road that opens up to a small, grassy clearing, with the cabin nestled in against the trees with it's back towards the woods that we just came out of and if you drive by too fast and don't turn your head slightly to the left, you'll probably miss it. Now, I've never seen a person here. Just the seldom car or jeep. I've never even seen a person out walking on this road, for that matter. So imagine how my heart reacted when my eyes beheld a bearded man wearing a long parka and a baseball cap standing on the left side of the road as I come around the curve and into the clearing where sits snugly Freddy's Hideaway! I did say "Fuck.", quite clearly as my son also said, quite clearly, "What the fuck?" and I floored it and who the fuck cares if it's frosty asphalt or not. I want my damn puff of CC and my bed!

I told my son about my friend, Rebel, who would have loved to have been in the car on this particular drive home. I don't know what that cloud like, foggy thing was. In the middle of no-where. Just there, in front of my car. Seeing the red light from the power lines through the trees only served to alter my state of mind a little more into the super-natural side of things, the perfect setting for a total and absolute freaking out when we saw Freddy.

I'm off to work again in an hour. Do I do the Rebel Thing and drive the Elm Street route? Or do I take the highway?

TAKE ELM STREET!!! Man I wish we lived closer! We'd be in the car heading over now! Well, first things first... How was the weather last night? Was it dry or humid? Clear? Cloudy?Windy? In some instances fog or mist will stay in one spot if there's no wind. Was the fog thick? Like SOLID white mass? No way could be mistaken for fog/mist? You know we LIVE for that shit! LOL We'd been all over that man! That's why we always have a camera on us... Red light.. Good job on de bunking! As far as Freddy... Now that IS strange... I'd a been driving back out that way the first chance I'd get to see wth was going on!

Be a REBEL!! :pop: Stuck to my chair to find out if ya followed up... But, I have a feeling you took the highway to avoid more drama no? Maybe too much for a 24 hour period?

:crying:LOL,y'all are some crazy f'ers! I'd be goin back but i'd be packin artillery lol! That and a change of drawers!
