Lighting Recommendation for COB LED lights to cure fluffy buds

According to kind soil you don't need to do anything other than water. I have ZERO issues other than density.

I have used both Recharge and Mammoth, used molasses in flower, tried overdrive and bud candy as well as several baseline grow where I did only filtered water with the proper PH
I have been looking at Timber and Optic as vendors.

:yeahthat: Eek and 3-W's....

>> Fortunato I mean specifically what strains showed this, these details matter,.... Noted on the Indica leaning crosses though, and you should indeed be getting more solid buds from them as a general trend,... Have you been doing pretty much nothing but KindSoil, or did you get similar results from other nutes lines, and which ones? What medium? ...I still think this is totally nutritional, as the lights you have are beyond good; they are not the problem here, and COB's won't "fix" this,.. I love my COB's though, fantastic technology there! AutoCOB's are passive cooled (so are some other brands), so no fans which for some folks is a big deal,...
Post us pic's, these can help sometimes with this,...
If you are stateside, you can order a free sample kit from Nectar For the Gods, just pay shipping only,... ditto for Megacrop! Look them up here,.... if you go with MC, be sure to get a high PK booster for use during bloom, as their "all in one" formula doesn't produce the best flowers alone either,....

Maybe I can help. While a lot of lighting today works well most don’t use the best parts from the start. A big misconception is that wattage equals light. You can have a 1000w light that gives off little light or you can have a 100 watt light that gives off a lot of light. This sort of goes hand in hand with cost and efficiency. I actually made it about 2 years of growing and buying lights before I ever knew that it made a difference never knowing what it meant. Still so many people today miss the whole concert. Efficiency is basically the ratio of wattage to light. Some lights are in the 20% range while others are up to 60% light per watt. Not many companies list these numbers and the reason is they are using cheaper parts towards the lower end. Then to top it off they usually have a wattage multiplier on them showing a much higher equivalent.

Cobs sort of came in as the more efficient alternative to leds. Luckily because the only “efficient” led lights at the time used cree diodes and were extremely expensive. Now that cobs started proving their worth some companies came in preying on growers with their cheaper cobs that weren’t any better than the cheaper leds they sold. These are usually colored and square.

My suggestion is to skip the whole wattage thing and find out what you’re actually giving the plants as far as actual light goes. Par #’s are easily manipulated so you will have to rely on experienced and reputable people to help you through it. I think you’ll be surprised to see what you have. As far as cobs go there are really 2 major brands that offer a good efficiency worth looking into. Cree and citizen. I don’t really like cree. Over the past 2 years I have done countless side by side grows and the citizen always came out on top. Another hard fact is since cree became so popular companies are now advertising cree but cree has some extremely dated and inefficient models available. One company that I know of sells extremely expensive lights but uses cobs that cost .81 cents each on eBay. Another reason I like citizen is most cobs available or sold in grow lights for that matter are a good efficient choice.

If water only is what you are after KIS Organics has a soil that is good. Proper nutrition is as important as your lights. It's difficult to learn the plants, for me, when they need the addition of the PK for good bud structure.

Aren't dense buds simply the buds' sepals fusing/gunking together (and if they haven't fused, are fluffy, no real difference)? To me, if potency and quality are there, buds being fluffy does not matter. Bud fluffiness/denseness is just cosmetic and can even be controlled.

Being old enough to remember when all pot was smuggled from other countries and came compressed, I say just press the buds together manually, whether 1 by 1 or more pressed together, into the form and density you want.

What are your tent/room temps? And humidity??

I think both the Kind and the Platinum are at the top end of the LED quality spectrum so I don't think lumens are the issue. My temps are always in the 70's and humidity 40-50% and I run an 18-6 schedule. I grow in a well ventilated tent with fans inside.
I have grown Dutch Passion Auto Ultimate, Fast Buds Pineapple Express, Dutch Passion Auto Mazer, Royal Queen Northern Lights and several others, again all top shelf strains and breeders.
My buds look great and feel hard on the plant but once dried they're fluffy.
I would switch to hydro (even though I've never grown with it) but just don't have the height in the tent to do so.

Fck.me If I know whats the problem then.. I had few airy buds due to high temps or lights beeing too far.. That's why I asked.. Maybee somebody smarter can help..

Add some Tritons Trawl to your water when she’s in flower. It’s fish bone meal, digested. Bet that will tighten them up. But hey I’m a fan of too much Ca. Seriously. I think you need some additional nutrients in your feed and it is not as easy as toss in some of this or that. Have you given thought to teas? Add some more beneficial microbes and such. Is there enough in the mix to feed everybody? Stuff like that is what I think will bring you what you want.

I was replying based on your thread title. Cobs for fluffy buds. I also missed the first sentence on the first post. Didn’t realized you were experienced which makes a big difference and yes those two companies are fantastic. Lumens definitely aren’t the problem.
