Hey guys. i'll be done my first grow pretty soon with the Rev's 2.1 TLO soil I made.I want to recycle it and I was curious as to how you guys go about redoing your soils?I plan to let it dry out and then screen it for most of the roots.what do you guys tend to do?I've used Living teas for 50% of the feeding throughout. But without having delt with this area, could ya'll please lend me some know how.?Thanks guys!"AFN smoke out""AFN smoke out"

I read a while back that when farmers used to reuse their soil so many time it would turn to crap. So they would take seaweed and mix it in. Will that work for you? No idea sorry :P But it's a fun fact of the day.

well according to the Revs book to bust up the root balls and maybe ad X amount of a molasses and filtered water as a composting agent.should take around 30 days or so for the roots to mostly break down if the ambient temps are above 64F.I didnt know if I should go that route and cook in a few other additives of just use the root balls as he stayed or if I should treat it like a standard prganic grow n sift the roots out n re amend n let cook again.Ive read about it a bunch, just have never done it.so I was hoping I could get a few ideas as to what the best course or courses of action might be.:Sharing One:

well once the other six root balls are ready to be busted up I plan on using 20Lbs of EWC some veggie and fruit Pulps, oatmeal and honey and Molasses tea with a touch of kelp along with a few other amendments such as Lime, perlite, cotton, blood n bone meal with kelp meal too.i'll let it recook and breakdown the roots and reblend n cook the extra additives into the soil.I may get some rooster n cow manure to add a couple gallons.should be roughly a 30 gallon mix once all is said n done I think.then I can try my other carb based soil n see where thats at.I do need to rewater it n feed the micro hungry dudes.they seem to be eating pretty good.everytime I feed em n water it ,it gets nice n warm.dries out a lil faster outside though.i'll make a local brewed tea from the Fungi as well as a bacterial tea to feed the soil along with adding a few gallons of composted browns n greens too.Any Help lent is greatly appreciated for this next step.

Im just sorry I cant get another pak of the revs stuff.he went Silent and his stuff is not avaliable on amazon and his true living organics site dont come up.sooo,I guess ill have to play with another recipe.Ive been wanting to look at Levers since I know MANY people have tried his recipe and it works.so since Im most of the way there,I figure nows a good time to switch gears in a couple ways.so as per usual I have several things to get done and see how they work.YUP organics and learning are never done.just like growing, never done, always learning.:smoke:

I'd sift the roots out and compost them separately

I thought about that.still undecided.compost them with what though?they wont break down in a 2 month period by themselves..Any ideas? If I did that separate would I lose any of the natural Nutrients within the root structure I guess is the biggest question...?"AFN smoke out"

You won't lose anything, you'd be adding it to the new batch of compost. Chop the roots up, hell, use a machete on them if you have to lol!
And an old gardener once told me, "it will compost faster if you add shit". Toss in some manure, they'll break down faster!

Its all this composting, and cooking, and waiting and...etc that keeps my from doing a full blown organic grow. Maybe I'll do one this winter as a side project.

What ever you loose by removing the root should be more than replaced by the additives you are putting in. I might add some compost to that list items.

Most manure takes 6 months to break down. It can speed up a compost pile but the manure can still be hot until it sits longer in my experience.

I think Im gonna chop em up smaller in time, mix em throughout ,add several things along with a soil bumper, compost of a few types, crabshell.i think maybe rebuilding it in a mild way could lend well to a sweeter soil if sat for a few months and turned every 5-8 days for the first 30-40 days cuz of the roots.well according to the book its his practice, but not sure if it'll need to be done for that long of a cook...?

any thoughts on that idea as to improve it maybe? Im only a couple guanos off to get a small batch of lever dudes mix going for winter or next year.so that'll be something else all together."AFN smoke out"Awesome input guys, thanks.gives me food for thought as to help me decide which path to take."AFN smoke out"

ok so I got(just ordered) the Fungi Perfect Endo Myco seeds and the VAM from Bio AG too.crabshell and 20Lbs of castings to go with a horse n cow manure ,Cal/Carb Soil Bumper too, compost add on.and a compost tea to livin things up since I just cut the roots up and added a small spritz of molasses. These things ill be using in small amounts to add to the existing 2.1 soil, but also my other soils too.these are what ill be using by end of the year or so.so plenty of time to blend.I wished I could go dig a bunch of stuff up on my property but my body thinks thats a baaad idea LOL!

Keep ya posted once stuff is all blended n mixed together ready to cook with amounts of re amended 2.1 Soil builder.Starting to Flush the Last of my grow from the Revs Mix.:pass:
