WHAT UP ALL?!?!

Just found this site within the past week or so, wish I had sooner as its totally the source of auto-flower info I've been looking for. Luckily enough, so far it seems like I haven't done too bad. This is my first marijuana grow, although not my fire experience with plants. There has been a nursery in my family for a couple generations, and I spent a lot of time there as a kid, so this whole thing has been a awesome experience for me on multiple levels. I decided to do mainly autos, as it will be legal here in a couple weeks, and I'll be aloud to have 4 plants. Our summers have been getting hotter and longer by the year up here in the PNW, so I figured with 2 rounds of auto's I'll be able to grow more plants — more flavors — more chances if I fuck up at the start. I ended up decided to do one regular feminized plant that was a freebie, mostly because I wanted to try the "nugbuckets manifold" topping method on plant and that sounded way to aggressive for a auto plant. I am trying multiple different pot sizes/types for the autos to see how much of a difference that makes [can I grow a monster outdoor in a bigger smart pot? we'll see.]

I'm growing everything in my back yard driveway, along with what has become a pretty huge garden, all in pots. Depending on how the weather goes I might get a small greenhouse towards the end of summer to avoid mold. Everything started indoors under a 90w [400w equiv.] ufo style LED grow light, in a little tent I rigged up in my basement with a heavy duty emergency blanket and the hood from a photo light I had laying around.

I'm doing everything 100% organic, using a slightly modified recipe of sub-cool's super soil in the bottom 1/2 of all my pots and Roots Organic regular mix in the top 1/2. The super finished its "cook" a couple weeks ago and I've been top dress feeding my tomatoes and pumpkin with it — HOLY SHIT! They're all going totally bonkers, so I'm assuming its some good stuff.

R1 is currently:
  • Fast Buds Fastberry AutoFem in a 15 gal smart pot
  • Fast Buds Green Crack AutoFem going into a 10 gal plastic
  • Mephisto SourBubbly AutoFem in a 7 gal plastic
  • Nirvana Swiss Cheese RegFem in a 15 gal smart pot
  • Joint Doctor Purple Ryder in a 5 gal pulp pot
5 right? Well, the sourbub took a turn about a week ago and it was lookin kinda bad [she's startin to look better now, more on that] and I was getting nervous and had some seeds burning a hole in my fridge. Then I saw @DarshAK's purple ryder plant and had that one already and so I sprouted it as a backup. If all goes well with everything, I may foster out the swiss cheese or the purp ryder to a friend to grow out.

pics in order of list above [fb x2, gc, sb, sc, pr]

So the sour bubbly is about 2 days older than the green crack and fastberry, and was doing pretty well for the first few days out of the ground. Then I went camping for the weekend, and possibly overwatered a little before I went. Over the following 4-5 days I harded everything to live outside instead of in the basement. The sour bubbly didn't seem to be doing as much growing and just didnt look as happy as everybody else, and then on its 2nd full day in the sun started to look real bad. I decided to move her back under the grow light in the basement and am going to wait till it gets another week or two's growth bigger until I move it back outside. Its started growing again once I put it inside which seems positive, and am thinking about doing a mild aloe/coconut water foliar spray on it tonight to see if that will help her recover from what I am assuming is too much sun.

R2 is currently: TBD
I had some but then got kinda obsessed with some of these Mephisto grows I have seen on here and just ordered some seeds from them last night, as well as already had some lined up. Here's what I have to choose from [all auto-fem]:
  • Mephisto Tyrone Special
  • Mephisto The White Train #1
  • Mephisto Triangle Kush
  • Fast Buds Six Shooter
  • Royal Queen Northern Lights
  • Seedsman Seeds Sour Diesel Haze
They will all be eventually grown, as I'm going to get a indoor setup going on for the a fall season [I'm already having way too much fucking fun to stop.] I asked Mitch at Mephisto what 2 out of the three Mephisto seeds he would suggest for my R2 and he said to go for the Tyrone and White Train so I'll prob do that [unless I get any freebies that sound even better] and then do the Fast Buds Six shooter, as the to Fast Buds I have going on right now are doing awesome so far. The Purple Ryder germinated, but hasn't come out of the soil yet. We'll see what happens with it all in a couple weeks I guess...

So here is my big question I have for all you guys — whats going to yield me more assuming they are both fairly well taken care of — the swiss cheese reg fem or two autos? I like the idea of having two different strains than just one, but I also like the idea of having a plant that goes for longer so I can manifold it and to possibly give me a bigger yield.

Also, if anybody has advice about the sour bubbly [ mitch @mephisto and or some of you auto vererans on here?] I'd be very much grateful, as this is the plant I have been most excited about in this first round.

Thanks in advance for any advice anybody has, I'll try to keep this updated at least once a week, hopefully more often.

Best!!!

Welcome RD! Subbed up and looking forward to seeing another PNW TLO OD grow!

Personally I would take the chance on the Swiss Cheese. I grew out some photos last year that would not finish for me at Lat 48. They did, and I am glad I took the chance. In my limited experience, I have found that one photo will yield much much for you than 2 autos outdoors, if it does indeed finish for you. It would be ashamed to have to get rid of the PR if she indeed comes up.

May I ask what Lat you are at?

Peace.

Thanks @StickMan, welcome on board!!!

Good to hear about the swiss, thats the way I was leaning anyway. Don't hate the idea of having a bunch of those buds, especially if she is the red/purp pheno, which looks fuckin' rad to watch finish. I'm just north of lat 45, so should ne pretty good on the finish. I'm already planning on getting a greenhouse set up mid summer so the second round can finish flower without getting rained on.

As far tas the Purple Ryder goes, she started to poke through her soil today. Luckily enoigh we had some friends over for margaritas, and ended up fininding a foster home for her. I'll still get to watch/document her progress, as well as get some of the final buds. Win—Win!!!

Alright all, thats where I'm at!!!
Home all your seasons are going well!!!

Alright guys, the sour bubbly is officially fuc't. i will 99% chalk it up to user error, as I can think of about three different things that may have fucked with her. I got word from Mitch at Mephisto today, that she should be about 10 cm by now, and she is just breaking 4cm. GODAMNIT!!!

By any means, I had germinated a backup about 5 days ago, and she is looking GREAT!!! Now R1 is FastBuds Fastberry & Green Crack, JointDoctor Purple Ryder [2 weeks behind] and a RegFem of Nirvana Swiss Cheese [so far she's doin' pretty fuckin' good].

So obvz I didn't just kill the SB...I'm not a fuckin monster. Well actually I am, but thats not the point.

ANYWAY, she lost her seat in the 7 gallon plastic pot and went into a plastic #1 pot, to stay under the LED for the rest of her life. I haven't decided if i wanna just get a tiny bit of bud from her, or if I wanna spray her down, to get a herm, and see if I can score some seeds. By doing a shitty job of growing her, have I fucked her genetics? Can I still get good seeds outta her [i fuckin' hops so, best case scenario]? or is she donezo and my best bet is to get one of the best dubs I've ever had from letting her go all the way on just buds under the LED? any input is greatly appreciated. this strain seems badass and I'd love to get some seeds outta' her for future grows if at all possible.

any insight is appreciated!

best,

Catch up post from last week. All these images are from the previous full week up until this last sunday. I'll take some updated images tomorrow — as while I'm posting this I am realizing how much further along everything already is in the two days since took the photos...crazy. Over all, last week shit went great, garden is really filling out. All plants growing well, tomatoes getting HUGE!!! — totally loving the super soil.

Now, onto the ladies. Last we checked in, the sour bubbly auto wasn't doing great. I had kinda given up, and just tossed her into a 1gal pot, 1/4-1/3 full of super in the bottom, the rest Roots and put back under the LED in the basement. I started taking daily pictures of her on Wednesday when I started to see that she was rebounding, and crazy quick at that. Mind semi-blown.

The images from left to right, top to bottom go [last saturday, last sunday, monday, wednesday, thursday, friday, saturday, and today].

Next up is the Fastberry. She is sticking with the regiment of growing insanely fast, youngest one of the bunch of autos and def the biggest.

The "time-lapse" photos in the rest of this were taken between Wednesday and today. Every single shot didn't turn out perfect, so I ditched a couple days here and there in some of the rest.

The purple ryder seedling is going great too, seems to be off to a start closer the fastberry than the sour bub and the green crack — leaves getting big, quick.

Last but not least is the green crack. She's stopped growing for a couple days when I transplanted her Monday night, but is getting back on track pretty nicely. Still having pretty "high" hopes for her.

Aight — thats last week. Update for the first part of this week coming soon.

PEACE!

GROW UPDATE — HEATWAVE BATTLE PART 1

Its gonna be/already is fuckin hot out. Peaking Sat @ 100 or so, and then a week, possibly 2 of 90's. Have a makeshift shade screen set up, thats working pretty well. Got some garden steaks to build frame and a couple cheap rolls of screen door for the shade. Tied the frame together with twine and layered the two rolls of screen, then sewed them on with some thinner string. I turned cinder blocks on their sides and stuck the legs in them, then filled with leftover pea-gravel I had. It was super wobbly before, that that got it surprisingly sturdy. So far its peaked at about 92, which was today and both plants outside seem to love it so far. Fingers crossed.

The Fastberry is still growing like a bat outta hell. Has just poked out one or two pre-flower hairs right at 3 weeks. Seems like she's really hit first stretch. Hard to see the couple hairs in the pic, but as you can see its growing branches at quite a rate. She's been featured on Fastbuds Instagram a couple times in the past week or so, which I was super stoked about. Sounds like she is a fine specimen thats gonna produce top quality medicine.

The sour bubbly plant is officially bounced back and is really growing well still. She is super super squat, and obviously wont produce as much as she would have, but still truckin!!! I decided to use her to try some training on, my indoor space is currently limited. I bent her over last night, and by this morning she was already right back up again like nothing happened. I have her in a 1 gallon pot right now with super soil in the bottom 1/3, with the bottom cut out, sitting in a second 1 gallon pot 2/3 filled with super soil. So its kinda a taller skinny set up. I am gonna see if I can train her in a circle around the pot if I can. Open to suggestions. I have a 3 gallon pot I can throw her in if anybody things its a good idea, but am pretty curious to see how it goes in this 1.6 ish gallon set up, mostly full of full strength super soil [the rest roots regular mix]. The tap root is already sticking out a hole in the bottom. First pic is about a hour after I bound her down, and the other two are about 7 hours later when I woke up.

Green crack is moving along great, doing a little catching up the past few days.

No pics of the purple ryder, I've got her at a friends house, will try to get some when I check on her tomorrow. Fingers crossed for the super high heat the next two days, luckily enough they are dealing with the lowish 90's pretty well so far.

Good luck to everybody in Oregon and the whole West Coast with this heatwave.

I wouldnt cover them with a shade cloth unless you are worried about people seeing them. light = growth and more is usually better. Autos are more tolerant to heat than photos usually so as long as you dont let them dry out, give them as much light as you can. Interested to see how your SB plant turns out, they can get really big in the right conditions.

thanks for the advice @thetreeman, I moved them so they are mostly out from under the shade it all day this morning. By my estimation, it's about equal to 20-30% shade cloth.

Do you think I should try to give the sour bubbly more space to grow then? I could in theory just cut very bottom of the pot off again and let it crawl down into a 3gal pot of super soil.
