I wasnt talking about having the lower ones get bigger per say man.I ment more that they seem to spin up a little nicer and happen to be small still ,just a little tighter.and instead of me having little airy flowers to pull n trim off most of the time for oils n such,I have some small popcorners ta smoke on.But if I take many of my plants at around 10-30% Amber.so your saying I should try and let one go for an extra 10 days to 3 weeks with the leaves on ofcourse...? ok ill give that a shot with one of my autos this grow.ill play(as I normally would)with all of em as I do n leave one fully leafed..lol.yeah Ive always used Tucking, boxing ,and plucking to maintain the best result for me n Im happy, but if ya say for a FACT I can get better yeilds with my T-5's and pretty much everything else..yes?soo,ill give it a no shit, honest try in a few weeks when they start gettin a wee bit bigger."AFN smoke out"its admittedly been a bit since Ive done that, but I have done my own small trial.but I have been growing a little longer now..so...:peace:

looking forward to your results

i understand what you mean about your lowers being airy

please listen to this as it is based on my own experience in determining when a plant is ready ,,,,,,,,

looking at the trichomes tells me the top 3/4 of the plant is nearing ready , 30-50% have begun to amber , however , lower buds have only recently stopped producing fresh white pistils , for the last however many years ive let my plants continue to go until the lowers do their final growth spurt , sure they dont get bigger , they do get a bit fatter n heavier though , just like how many of you see them get when you have removed leaves , the only difference is that i didnt lose out on yield from the upper buds like the leaf pullers do (dont try to tell me they dont because thats just not true) , it might take my plants 3 weeks longer due to all of this , but when you look at the complete picture they didnt in fact take 3 weeks longer , they took the amount of time they needed to "PROPERLY" and "FULLY" finish and i didnt take them 3 weeks early , long story short , let your lowers tell you when the plant is ready , your uppers wont degrade and you will be very happy with the quality and results

articles written and published by places such as hightimes are often flashy looking/sounding and good at fooling people into believing info that is actually damaging to newer inexperienced growers , info myself and others have spent decades on debunking , but these jerks (imo) continue going out of their way to promote these methods because they think it makes sense to them and if they tell the world about it they will become important

but guess what , it was once thought the world was flat

If I was up against a time frame and needed the plant to.finish faster than it was on schedule to could stress induced ripening through leaf removal speed the process up? Obviously it wouldn't be ideal but it could be useful in a pinch.

yes , thats why its been called stress ripening the plant ripens/finishes , i like to call it premature death , its a shame if it is needed as you do suffer a loss of yield , but so be it

have you ever grown outdoors ? if so have you noticed the plants that get eaten by deer etc do not do as well as the plants that somehow got lucky enough to of not been attacked ?

plants grow leaves for reasons , if the plant no longer needs a leaf it will discard it on its own , when we go pulling off leaves we create stress within the plant , the plant in turn releases a stress hormone within itself

the proven scientific evidence is all out there in black n white to see , as is experience gained evidence by folks like myself

No, I've not grown outdoors so I've seen no evidence either way.

I get that they grow leaves for a reason, guess I'll have to sit on the fence until I can experiment with small strains in the environment I've got and see what happens before I know what's best for me.

Hard to find much scientific evidence either way, as with all scientific studies it gets out of date quick with advances in genetic coding, molecular analysis and a whole smorgasbord of other techniques that produce results that raise questions about older results/theories. I've yet to find an all encompassing study that covers all types of canna plant :)

Anyway, in the absence of definitive science I'll have to rely on the experience of the growers like you lot on here!

lol...thats funny man..why ya keep sayin nuff said when we've been over this five times er so.and will prolly be over it again in due corse jus cuz of ppl asking the same question...not being snide er anything, just kinda find it funny man, thats all.

But I'm gonna do one your way.I'd like you to walk me through it if you would near the end.and I wanna grow how I prefer.I;d like to see them side by side myself n see under my Lights n situation,if they do indeed do better than my style Ive developed.I'll have to do like three,er atleast two to give a somewhat fair comparison..I have found taking very few from say mid way down, earlier on in the grow, helps me to get a more fuller amber(not stress ripening) a little lower, thats a bit more evenly covered.so,Im stoked,if I can get thatg and not pull a single leaf AND get my meds the way I like them...oh dude.Thats gonna be something."AFN smoke out""AFN smoke out"

just a saying we use when we feel we have said enough , but then all the sudden someone says something else to draw out more so i reply again

science doesnt change much when it comes down to showing how and why plants grow , plants have not evolved to where they dont need leaves or light to grow

environment is key though , its doubtful anyone would be happy with the results produced by growing a plant in a bath tub useing only the bathroom light

that was just an example , not saying thats how you grow lol

imho if someone needs to pull leaves to make some sort of improvement , they really and i mean REALLY should improve the environment , it will only improve future plants from there on

37 posts about removing fan leaves during flushing, appearently no one read my post with a simple answer to a simple question.KISS PEOPLE.

but nammy , you and i disagree on it , i dont think its ever good to remove leaves , they fuel the plant and buds , science has proven this CLEARLY

would any of you pull 2 spark plug wires off your car and expect it to perform better ?

peace

when you pull a leaf it causes the plant to release a stress hormone/toxin , thats one other reason why not to pull leaves

even a dieing leaf shouldnt be pulled until it is fully dead and "used up" because if the plant is deficient and needing to drain a leaf it WILL start draining/killing a new leaf to replace the leaf that was pulled

another reason to not pull leaves is the plant now feels the need to replace that leaf , and unfortunately when in flowering mode it most often replaced within the buds , so in turn you think your buds gained mass , the unfortunate part is that it did so as leaf

i myself hate leafy buds
