Eek!
26 days into the grow... DSC00051.jpgand roots are coming outta the 5Gal Smarpot! Any ideas on what to do? Transplanting is outta the question. I have several extra smartpots though. The pots are resting on a bed of pea gravel in the grow room.
Help! Thanx!

No worries, egg. Those roots are a sign of a healthy plant, and having them sprouting out like that is exactly why we use smart bags. Those roots will 'air prune' and die back, leading to more root growth inside the pot. This will usually give you a much larger and more dense root ball when compared to a plastic pot. With those you'll often see the roots winding around the inside of the pot.

Andy,
Oh thank you, thank you, thank you! Scared the shit outta me!
Since I had several extra smartpots, I filled a bag 1/3 w/coco/perlite mix and put the pot w/plant into that 1/3 filled bag. Should I leave it this way or go back to just the one original pot?

Pea gravel you say... wonder what it would look like if I put peag gravel or hydro ton in the table then the smart pot filled with coco......hummmmmmmm I like it!! More roots the better!

The gravel stays moist due to slight excess drainage and the roots took to the gravel like mad, holding on to them. I physically lift the pots from the grow room to water & analyze runoff.

If you don't move your pots I'm certain it would work fine as long as the roots don't dry out.
