Lighting Rose's rolling grow... :-)

Aw, it's nice to be back and do another rolling grow. I have been unavailable due to moving countries, new job and all the hiccups that come along with such things.

It turned out that I had just enough mylar left do construct a brand new tent, heh, it lost a little bit in height but that space was totally wasted on the autos I grew anyway. Stuff like La Diva for example doesn't grow very high in the first place.

Anyways, I popped a MAX GOM and a TITAN seed ~ 10days ago and things are looking good. It seems like the Max Gom is a full-on indica whereas the Titan appears to be more sativa-dominant this time around. I'll take some pictures later although there isn't much to see on them yet. Veg growth - the boring stage, lol.

Can't wait for the spring to swing around - I have a balcony now so I'll be taking a shot at auto hazes too

Does anyone have any strain suggestions for auto strains for outdoor growing?

I had some autos outdoor last year and I put them out way too early because I have a mini greenhouse. Anyway, of the ones I had out there I noticed that northern lights auto (royal queen seeds) and the mohan ram auto (sweet seeds) fared the best. They put up with REALLY cruddy conditions and when I brought the mohan ram indoors she turned into a beaut. The NL looked really good all things considering, in fact the only problem was that it was small which they all were. If the weather had been good I'm sure both would have become lovely ladies.

Thanks a lot for your input, TC, it's much appreciated. Come spring time I may have a few bob to splash out on auto seeds intended for an outdoor grow.

On the current grow - I'm afraid I had to pull the Titan and the Max Gom prematurely and start afresh. Unfortunately the soil I had brought over from the UK had spoiled in the meantime and although the Max Gom had made it to the 3rd tier of leaves it stagnated at the very same tier for a good 5 days; the leaves were pale green and started to show some nute burn/offness around the edges of the leaves. At first I thought I may try to transplant it into a pot with new soil but after checking out the roots I realized it would just prolong the agony. The Titan on the other hand showed that the tap root didn't even ever leave the peat thingy. The tip of the tap root was beige/light brown

So I had no choice but to pull them both and start again with fresh seeds. There is an auto NL x Big Bud and a Sugar Mango Ryder soaking in a glass of water. Bought fresh soil which I hope will do the trick this time!! R.I.P. Titan and Max Gom...

I'm sorry to hear about the Titan and Max Gom and to speculate on the matter, I think using aerated water may have avoided this but I am unsure as to what the problem with spoiled soil actually is. The symptoms sound the same as over-watering, or water stagnation due to lack of drainage or using stagnant water in the first place. I doubt you used stagnant water, so seeing as they were outside maybe they got rained on a lot or the sub-standard soil had very poor drainage. You have new soil anyway so I suppose it doesn't really matter now. I would strongly advise using aerated water if you don't already. It makes problems like this almost impossible if the soil has good drainage, also the plants are able to feed a whole lot more, which with nute sensitive autos is very handy.

Anyway, good luck with the next ones and they sound like really nice strains. I think you'll have particularly good luck with the NL x Big Bud outdoors. Which breeder is it from?
