Hi folks,I'm new too the forum and would just like too give a big Scottish hello too all the members and admin. I'm new too Autoflowers so will probably be asking lots of questions so apologies in advance. Anyway Hi everyone using the forum

Guys what sort of lights are best for Autos??

I've currently got 600w HPS & 300w LED(UV capable) in my grow room. How many autos could I grow with this light setup and I'm planning inserting more lights for the next grow so should I get more LED or HPS?

Hey Glasgow!!

Welcome to AFN!!

Both HPS and LED will work great for Autos, it all depends on your circumstances and budget really.
I guess it's gonna be getting pretty cold in Scotland soon so i'd run both the HPS and LED - as to what to add next, if you can keep a good temp range with just the one HPS, i'd get another LED - that way if summer ever comes and it gets warm, you can just run the 2 LEDS and not generate anything like the heat.

The LEDs typically cost less to run due to more efficent lighting and the lack of need to exhuast heat. They also get wonderfull results as you'll be able to see from some of the LED growers journals. a good LED will cost more upfront than a HPS.

Good luck with the grow - post a journal when you're setup and people will follow along and offer advice if needed

Hi Blue,

Thanks for the reply much appreciated. My set up is all started and my seedlings are 20 days old as of today. I've got 2 Moby Dick XXL and 2 Afghan Kush under the LED and HPS just now. Is that plenty light for 4 autos?

It's cold all year round here in Scotland with summertimes reaching maybe 20-24C so I think I'm better using the HPS all year round. I've a decent budget for any extras that I require too enhance my setup and potential yield.

What's the best growing medium and Nutes for Autos? I'm currently growing in BioBizz Allmix and using all BioBizz products including Grow,Bloom,Root Juice,TopMax and Plant Magic Magne-Cal+.

Any other additions I should consider for helping the plants along

That lineup should be fine - remember that less is more at this stage of the game and biobizz nutes (being organic) take a few days to become avilable.

What's best? The one that works for you (people will all have differing opions here)

Follow Hazy on his grow (i'll come back with a link for you) as he's using Biobizz (although just fish mix and bloom i think)
He's one of the super-growers and you'll learn a lot following his nicely detailed journals.

I found all mix a little "hot" when i first started growing (i pretty much got the same lineup as you) I'm coco now (which is a bit different) but considering trying Hazy or TaNgs method for a giggle soon.

Hazy is using Plagron light - which is very similar to Biobizz lightmix - but if you get the choice of plagron next grow, i'd probably use that as taNg and Hazy do (and they know their onions)

Don't worry about additions for now - keep it simple. You'll see how hazy gets crazy results with Fixmix, Biobizz bloom, a bit of epsom salts - and maybe a PK booster (but he hasnt got there in the thread yet - about 10 days in so far)
