Here's what a swollen calyx looks like -
I had it myself on the auto BB; if you cut it up you should find a dead pistil (brownish) inside or sometimes I've found a tiny little green ball at the bottom the size of a dot --> .

After reviewing this photo I'm sure it was calyxes I saw, big ones!
