hi , I'm growing Moby dick autoflowers in a dwc setup , my first time growing hydro ...I'm o. my 12 day and my ph is 5.9 but my ppms Is 1100 it was higher but I topped my resevoir with a couple gallons of distilled water ...I fed nutrients foxfarm big bloom and grow big also cal mag I accidently used tablespoons instead of tsp with the cal mag and through everything out of wack..and after ph up and down and adding gallons of water I got the ph right but I can't get the ppms down .
should I just stop bring lazy and change my water or is there a way to bring the ppms down. or shoukd I just let my plants fight through it ? the plants look ok but a couple of them have red stems is that normal? here's some pics the plant in the soil are white widow the lityle one that looks like its ready to harvest is over a week past the time i harvested the other white widows but all the trichs still look mostly clear what do u all think:

if you are sure the mix itself is ok, you can leave it as is. They should take the ppm at this stage in dwc.
As a rule of thumb [how I did it long ago in my dwc and hempy grows]: Watch for the ph and ppm in the res and how much they drink.

PH sinking slightly and ppm staying or sinking slightly, all should be well off at this stage. If you have "unstable" nutes that rise overtime, a constant PH is well also - watch your plants. The more they drink and the more stable ph and ppm are, the more on spot you are.

If the ppm and ph in the res rise, they drink more water than they take in nutes, then watch and top up water.

If the PH sinks and ppm sink, you may add more. While they grow bigger and consume lots of N there should always be a little ph-down and in the stretch that should be well measurable. Watch your plants!

If PH sinks and ppm rise you have most probably some kind of problem most of the time - I had.

As you are all new to that, I'd rather not be lazy and change the res to get all back in balance rather than microcontrolling. Get used to it. there is too much you can do wrong, and laziness and dwc don't fit well. Check (twice) daily and take care.
what is the medium in the nets? not earth? that will rot and won't do good? If it's something not biulogical/rotting, all is good, cant see it.

And if anyone tells you different, follow them, i ditched dwc and hempy because of MY laziness and the experience is from long ago ;-)
Good Luck!

So you're saying 1100 ppm is okay for seedlings?
