Harvest & Curing Should I cure if going to decarb and make coco oil? And what about ISO extract?

hey pal,

this is the Intro section. please ask questions in the appropriate areas. Or use Live Stoners. We love to have you here but it would be helpful if you could use the search box first. Cheers my friend...........eP.

I am not following you. This is harvesting and curing section, not intro. My question is related to curing.

I did search. I always search. And when I dont find what I'm looking for, I post a question, pal.

I do apologize @lunarman , but for some reason you post DID appear in the Intro section for a brief time. It must have been a system glitch. I am sorry if I have upset or embarrassed you, that was not my intention.

Can we still be friends ?..................if not, I will set my bull terrier on you, who will lick you to death unless he gets some cuddles.:bighug:

No worries. That was weird. So is getting licked to death by a bull terrier!!!! Which I'll have to take a pass on.....

So anyway, cure or no cure required for cooking up some infused coco oil and making some ISO extract?

I will also have to pass on the question. Not a clue pal ! But if I had to choose, I would say cure. You have nothing to lose. And maybe all to gain. Or do a 50/50 test and let us know how it goes !!! Some clever chap will no doubt be along soon to help.................eP.

:jointman:... hey mon! nothing in the extracts/hash section on this? I want to say for extraction purposes, no real need to cure,.. that's more about the chlorophyll breakdown, moisture stabilizing, partial decarb' effect, etc., which makes for more smooth and potent smoke,.. .. n/a here I think, since you're stripping the goods off the plant material and decarb'ing by slow heat anyway-- for oil that is,... qwiso, I don't know, but it might help with some cure since some slight decarb'ing occurs during cure,.. I know alcohol can strip the chlorophyll out if exposed too long, or overly shook up, and really fresher material might be more prone to this?

The Guru has spoken. I will agree as an ex qwiso chap, you need to shake and steep all in 30 seconds or it is just too much. IMHO

what is dry and what is cured ? both are 62% humidity.if material is dry/62% you ready to rock whether its been in a jar 1 week or 3 months.
my 2p.

I thought drying was what you did after a chop like hang partially trimmed branches upside down and let it dry out. Not sure about RH on this as I don't care I just live with the ambient RH I have in the drying tent. I just check a couple of times a day and after a few days the initial drying is done.

After that then we get in to curing in jars at 62%. That to me should be right on 62% and takes weeks. And I trim even more when I start the curing.

This is what I read on the internet so take it with a grain of salt. It won't be the first time I repeat something I read on the internet only to find out it was wrong.
