New Grower Should I PH my plain water?

Yea, the Scotts was a bad idea. It said "Supersoil" on the bag and I thought I remembered that term from a forum so I bought it :) Then to make matters much worse I bought MG perlite. Turns out it has time release nutes in it. Now I'm using Roots Organic and it's pretty awesome.

My Dad was just telling me about sulfur today. He used to use it in Florida as their soil PH is very high. I may check it out or just keep lowering the ph of my water.

Sulfur works well to lower pH but it is very slow acting. It takes about 2 months for the soil microbes to break it down so it's available to the plants. So you would need to premix your soil and let it sit for 2 months before using. That's why I prefer aluminum sulfate. It's immediately effective.

Here is another question. From a health/organic/medical viewpoint, Would it be better to use lemon or vinegar rather than PH Down?

Thanks for all the input.

I use Hesi, because I think domestic stuff like vinegar and lemons perhaps have some unwanted ingredients, but I do not know for sure.

Hesi ph down for growth - 38% Nitric acid
hesi ph down for flowering - 59% phosphoric acid

vinegar 4% acetic acid

lemon 5-6% citric acid

So, we deal with different acids. Hesi acids are claimed to be used by plants (Nytrogen and phosphorus) at the end, after they decompose chemically. perhaps vinegar and lemon juice too.

Plagron sells some kind of lemon juice as ph down, so it must have been tested.

I bought Hesi stuff, because 1 l is not expencive and lasts for years. Lemons are not so cheap and I do not believe you would buy 1 kilo and prepare a bottle of juice. If you go for a fresh lemon every time, you save nothing.
