Aye, there's that, but..... I believe every forum should have an indulgent kindergarten corner, sort of like the lobby of Drumpf Tower.....

Personally, like others have said, it takes time and effort to sort lowbrow from highbrow.... Always thought likes was a better yardstick to assess any implied competence and experience....

By the way..... For a little spicy

whatever happened to email notifications, that's far worse than someone fiddling with the reputation scores, it actually handicaps the forum and prevent worthwhile replies simply because it gets lost in the traffic volume ... I say, fix notifications before you spend another nano second on anyones reputation.....

You missed the whole point of what I said think irony, And you sound elitist aswell as one sided to match. Your three years of work here are worth more than another's work? So I dont deserve the rep Ive earned? I dont care how much rep any one else has , but sure as shit I want mine right where it is. Also to slag all members of any other forum together isnt so kindly as you think you are????

It definitely needs a reset and new controls. I began wondering when I saw a group here suddenly skyrocket in rep, surpassing my 3 years worth in 3-6 months. If I've worked this hard to earn what I have, something is definitely amiss.

DON'T even compare AFN to RIU! There is no comparison, we are WORLDS above them in maintaining an enjoyable place to discuss and learn about cannabis. Of course, if you love rude, obnoxious, know-it-alls controlling your forum, then RUI is the place..........
There is valuable information on RUI, but you need to be ready to be abused for simply being the new guy, then see what happens when you post!

I've mixed feelings about the "auto warriors", they have done some great work, but I feel they are one of the reasons rep has lost its value. Seems to be a lot rep in a small group with so many new people.

the high team serves a purpose other forums could take a lesson from, they maintain the AFN "vibe", they remind us to chill out when we get a little too passionate about something, and help weed out the bad apples. So have no real comparison to the rep issue. They need to stay.

And what's wrong with recognition for your accomplishments here? Especially for new people, and even more so for new people who are totally new to growing. I see a lot of nervous, insecure feelings expressed by new growers here, and rep and awards help them feel good about their work and accomplishments, even if it is that they only succeeded in growing a plant to completion without killing it!

The problem with this whole thread is it is full of one-sided views that give little thought to both sides of the story

I am one of the group that would not like to see rep gone or reset....I have put a ton of work into guides, high quality journals, highly detailed smoke/grow reports and I know I have earned every single point, and sometimes it just feels good to scroll though my rep list and read the comments. It also allows me to follow up easily on members that I have given outdoor advice to ect. Its too bad that rep has been abused in the past, but hasn't the limitation to 100 for non staff members fixed that problem? There should be some kind of framework to advise staff/mods good amounts of rep to hand out for various things...ive recently changed the way I hand out rep for strain reviews. A decent review gets 100 rep, a well detailed gets 200, and an exceptional review gets max(which is around 320 for me).

If you earned it fine and well, and I singled no one person out. I would if I had prove, I do not and would not do so without it You deny some have not manipulated their score? Can one person do it by himself?? Not very likely!
Example ( no one in particular ) If you've been here 4 months and have more rep than I do, did you work harder? I've seen that and wondered how that happened. Don't you, when you see it?

As to RUI your right on 2 fronts, I missed the irony, sorry! There are some who stand above the masses on RUI. Not enough though, there are members who've been there since it started that feel the same. Its like the wild west there, lawless..... When a thread turns into 400 pages of ( no joke either there is at least one.. ) Vile, cruel, and vulgar abuse of other members, before the thread is locked, yah think maybe somethings wrong??
Its my opinion of the site in general, based on these things I've run into, and stand by it.

I think there is some merit to the system. Back when I was new to the forums and working on my first grow, I posted up a problem in the infirmary. As can frequently be the case, I got a couple different replies with different to almost contradictory advice. Having not been around long enough to recognize which names to trust, looking at their reputation was one of the factors for me in deciding which advice to take more to heart

That being said, though, I can see where there is plenty of room for overinflated numbers in the system if it's abused. I dunno...hard for me to picture a way to have a system that truly vets when/where points can be given while not creating a huge new workload for the volunteers that run things behind the scene.

@pop22 :slap: for your value as a test team member to me.

I'll second those 2 first ones.....
Seeing the results its pretty obvious where this vote is going...lol

Take faith ye unfaithful...... It's not by popular vote, it's the Management College...... Whoever thought a vote has anything to do with democracy should have wised up by now, at least those on the left side of the pond......

Just like Brexit, it may be wise to hash out the merits of putting everybody's reputation out to a popular vote..... In this respect allow me to quote an old trusty hand :

``It must be considered that there is nothing more difficult to carry out, nor more dangerous to conduct, nor more doubtful in its success, than an attempt to introduce innovations. For the leader in the introduction of changes will have for his enemies all those who are well off under the existing order of things, and only lukewarm supporters in those who might be better off under the new.''

I have read and benefited from your work, and so left rep for it. Grateful that I dont have to try something for three seasons to advance my outdoor grows. If the least I can do is slap you with rep, even if I dont make it public with a :slap: what's it to anyone else.

Heck, I'll even admit that I'm a perfect example of the system maybe needing to be tweaked. I don't pay that close attention to all the rep and stuff, so not sure where it all came from. But apparently just from my being active in the LS chat, other forums activities, and stuff like that I've accumulated enough rep points that have may nothing to do with growing that there are real growers with skills and plant knowledge that dwarfs mine that don't have the same points. That have probably been here longer, etc..etc...etc....

I dunno...*shrug* wiser heads will decided but there could be room to change it up, I think. :vibes:
