Are you seeing new growth affected, Scoti?
How's your pH looking today? Again, I'm just a dirt guy, but I think for hydro an EC meter is a must have. Knowing your ppm, and what suspendeds make up that number, would seem like critical information to me.

Put it this way.... EC is just a measure of how well your water conducts electricity. It tells you what your suspended solids are, and there's a formula to convert that number into ppm. The only difference between an EC meter and a ppm meter is, the ppm meter does the math for you.
The tricky part is figuring out what solids are actually in your water. If you're on city water, you should be able to get an analysis (for free) that tells you what is in your water.
1,000 ppm, unless you know what's floating in there, means next to nothing.

I'd be careful, then, not to over correct. Pay attention to new damage to your lower leaves, and to any symptoms spreading. Some leaves that take a hit never recover, so base what's happening on the healthy growth.
