New Grower Skatters perpetual DWC/Coco Grow Show

Wood is much heavier, and my tent is at the max capacity that im confortablw with. Also with a homemade net i can adjust the holes, and there is more leeway with moving things around. If i attempted it with autos it would be much easier with a net made of string since I can adjust and maeuver it.

Also im doing perpetual, so its not an option because ofbdifferent plant stages. I plan to grow with vertical bulbs and photoperiod sativas once the temps drop. Regular scrog doesnt interest me as much

To each his own, but wood isn't necessarily heavier than PVC. Depends on the type of wood you use. Also, you can use anything you want to frame it. The key point is the remesh which saves a lot of time IMO...

I basically made an adjustable PVC "Table" screen, that can easily be raised and lowered to accomodate growth as well as bucket changes (although i may be sticking to coco now). The mesh is definitely easier to setup, but I feel like it was blocking alot of light and not very easy to maneuver. I.dont mind wasting an hour or two putting it all together. Kind of cathartic. My favorite part ofbthe day is doing things with / for the plants haha. I had never buikt anything before this adventure, now im loving Do it yourself projects

Actually I'd love to see your design. I first thought of doing something similar (a table of sorts that is height-adjustable), but now think the hanging option is better...

Yeah this stuff is fun right? Great little hobby

I havent designed it on google sketchup yet, but basically just take a 3/4" PVC Pipe, and put it inside of a 1" PVC pipe. These will be the legs of the table. Since the 3/4" pipe is smaller in diamteter, it can slide up and down easily. Drill a bunch of holes in the legs, and then when you have it at the height you want it at, just slide a screw through it which will prevent the table from going all the way to the ground.

The frame of the net is just made of PVC with elbows. The shape is kind of like a rounded out square. I will have eye hooks drilled into it, and then just make the net with string.

Update

Day 52 for the larger plants, day 32 for the younger ones.Things are going nuts inside of the tent right now. I feel like a teenager again. I'm in the tent every chance I get, just watching these sexy ladies do their thing. I find myself on my hands and knees, looking up their skirts. Staring at their lady bits under my microscope. Poking, prodding, rubbing, and then sniffing my fingers like a dirty pervert. I'm loving every second of it.

THe younger plants are going through vigorous growth, devouring full strength nutrients. The older plants are starting to fatten up by the day. After all my research, and hard work, things are finally starting to pay off. So exciting!

First and foremost, is my little pollination project. I had turned one of my critical jack's side branches all into males. She was left in the tent with the rest of them, so I am sure some pollination occurred naturally. I decided to chop off all of her side branches that had the nut sacks on them, and placed them in a vase. As the pollen sacs matured, I manually extracted them onto a piece of tin foil, and then collected the pollen on the ends of Q-Tips. I have the pollen sitting next to my rasta man fertility statue for good luck :stylez rasta smoke:

The pollen was collected from Critical Jack that displayed 11 fingered fan leaves, and I will apply the pollen to my younger critical jack which is 2' tall already at 32 days, and has a beautiful structure to her. I will also apply some of it to my white widow, to see what kind of phenotypes that will make. The pollen is still sitting on the Q-Tips. I will probably pollinate the white widow tomrorow, but I'm hoping for some more pistils on my younger plants before pollinating them. Hopefully the pollen doesnt start to go bad.

Otherwise, things are good. My largest critical jack in the orange bucket got a little bit of light bleaching on the top of her cola, as you can see in the one image. My White widow has been showing signs of deficiency because her PH was sitting above 6.5 for 2 days. Some mild cal-mag deficiency going on, but I am pumping them full of silica and they seem to be fighting through everything quite well.

My two little photoperiods are starting to come along nicely. I am going to keep them in those 1 gallon pots until they are root bound. Since I don't have any seeds (other than the ones I will hopefully make myself), I plan on taking alot of cuttings off of those and doing some photoperiods next grow. For practice more than anything. I want to use some of the clones to attempt to create some bonsai mother plants for myself. I figure it is worth experimenting on the freebies, that way I can execute better on some awesome strains which I have yet to order

Me too, I have two lovely phenos. I may seed up my younger widow imstead. She is sativa dominant with 9 finger leaves. My critical jack is already almost 30" tall also. I just hope theystart throwijg off some more pistils soon. Idk how long this pollen will stay viable for sitting out in the open
