Hey guys since you both seem to be in the know, does mmj help with anxiety and depression (which usually coincide)? I have read some things saying that it does, whereas I've read others saying that that it may lead to anxiety or depression.
My suspicion is that the latter theory has the causality backwards; those using it may be doing so as a treatment of their anxiety or depression, rather than the usage causing it.

I've ran into the same issue as well. I believe it is a very useful medication. I personally suffer from anxiety and depression. Marijuana has always been a magic drug for me. Not only does it help with my anxiety/depression but it also lowers my stress levels. I am also a very high strung person so marijuana helps slow me down to regular speed. It keeps me from losing my temper and causes me to be more patient.
My mother is a text book example of the propaganda behind marijuana. She would use marijuana to self medicate herself for bi polar, anxiety, and depression but in the process it would create even more stress. She would become very paranoid of getting arrested. Also I believe it would lower her self esteem because society makes us believe "drug" users are bad people. This led to harder "less detectable" drugs. Of course this leads to treatment and BAM marijuana is a gateway drug that causes anxiety/depression. Fast forward 20 years, shes fully disabled from bi polar, takes annual "vacations" in the mental hospital where shes subjected to experimental ECT treatments that she was forced into agreeing to in order to not go to prison for the 3rd time. So my belief is some marijuana users already have anxiety/depression and they are self medicating themselves with marijuana without even realizing it. Besides worse case scenario if it did cause depression/anxiety, which in my 12 years of smoking has never happened, that is still a far less severe side affect than any of the pharmaceutical drugs.
I think there is so much conflicting information because of the sheer volume of strains, and the fact that everyones personal experience varies. I have noticed alot of the paranoia resulting from cannabis use is environmentally related. With certain strains, if the 'vibe' is bad, i can become intensely paranoid and uncomfortable. So i think any anxiety brought on by it, is simply the result of an internal fear of knowing you are doing something illegal.
More often than not, i find it to alleviate symptoms of parranoia that occur as a result of schizophrenia. At times though, it cqn also embellish those effects. There is research that correlates mj and schizophrenia, but I personally dont mind those symptoms as much as the others lol

Thanks man. I figure I will be doing it eventually anyway, so I might as well learn as much as I can. Every mistake is a lesson learned. Hopefully this can be a great learninf experience for me, and any other new growers who can learn from my errors.
Those LEDs look sweet, Flat9! I was eyeballing those same ones on Ebay, they seemed great and affordable. What is the spectrum on it? What re the dimensions on it? Also, What did you end up paying? Im still considering getting one since there ae still some spots in the bigger tent that wont have lighting
