Mephisto Genetics SODK in a Bigger Hempy pot

Hi, Mr. Mc Toasty. First, thanks for dropping by the Mephisto's page and lending me a hand, brother. It is much appreciated. Second, let me just say........ DAMN! Your plant looks amazing! I picked the perfect time to ask that question, because you were the perfect person to answer. Thanks to Mitch for getting back to me so fast, and suggesting I request your input.

I pulled the trigger and grabbed some very nice 10l small plastic buckets. They look like small laundry baskets. Bought 10 for $10!!!(dollar store, of course) I will convert them to an air pot/fabric pot combo. I will post a pic beside a regular 8l for reference, if you don't mind. After seeing your giant in that small pot, I'm thinking I went way to big. I might have to only do 4 plants instead of the 8 that I was planning. Only 2 will be SODK. I am running 2 x Dutch Passion Cinderella Jack. Hope it's ok to mention that. Haven't read your post yet. I wasn't expecting such a fast response from you. I just blazed right over to say thanks. If this is Mephisto specific, I can edit it out. Just wanted to give you an idea of what I am working with in a 5x5' space.

Again, thanks for the very useful info. I had to give you all my 100 rep points. Wish I could give more. :peace:

Glad I could help bro. I too run a 5x5, and it'd be hard to fit 4 in there. DP's can get pretty large as well. With training it's probably doable.
Do you have a grow thread? If so, tag me in it so i can sub up.
Thanks for the rep, I returned the favor.

Thanks Roasty. No thread yet. Starting on it today. You have me a little nervous about my space. I obviously still didn't get the real visual, even though I looked at your pics in detail. I do have all 4 (2xcindy-jack, 2xsodk) in already. I have the SODKs still in the seed cubes. I potted the CJs in the 10l. I am potting SODKs today. I was thinking about putting them in my smallest (4l) pots, and training like crazy. But after rethinking your post.......screw it! We want big autos that produce like photos, with all the bells and whistles. Here I am, trying to figure out how to cock it all up! I have already paused this reply, and made a trip to Home Depot, and bought the supplies to build a small 3x3' cabinet. I have extra lights (led and hps) lying around. I just was trying to keep my operating cost on the cheap. That is out the window. So now, 2xSODKs in the biggest airpots I have. I will put the DPs in the 3x3' cab. I will not top any of the auto girls, but I will open up the canopy with string, maintaining the natural structure, and let them go ape s**t!

Well, brother......I have gone from nervous, to pretty freaking excited in one short paragraph. I am not documenting the build, but definitely the grow. Depending on time restrictions, I will get the pics up later today, or by tomorrow for sure.

One last question, for now anyway. Have you ever lst'd these girls, or do you usually stick with natural as your pics indicate? The structure looks open. Is that from any bending techniques, or is that from the weight of the bud? Thank you, brother.

I lied. Two more questions. I am new to posting here. How do I tag you in. I will try to find out on my own, but just in case I'm "tag-in illiterate."

Here are my air pot/fabric pot/hempy bucket. The white bucket is a standard 8l paint bucket from Lowes. The green is my dollar store acquisition. The last shot os with landscaping fabric stuffed into the "air pot." I put the pots in a 14" plant saucer that has over 2" of depth. I pick the pots up and feed to runoff and discard the runoff. Then, I put the pot back in saucer, and fill saucer with fresh nutes. I'm thinking these girls could be gargantuan! What do you think, Roasty? Way to much, or, go ahead and rock that s**t?

Ya bro, I just did leaf tucking early on, then once she's at around 12" started bending lower branches, and bent over the top with twist ties. That allowed the lowers to catch up, creating a more even canopy.

Now if your in soil, I'd say you'll want bigger pots than I've suggested, i grow in str8 coco, so results will vary.

Just put @ in front of whomever you tag.

Thanks Roasty. Just went back and posted pics of modified buckets on last post. What I have in them is 50/50 coco/perlite, with ewc and a hand full or two of Espoma organic dry vegging fert. I water with 100% rain water, and add Heisenberg and nutrient teas at least once per week. I was going to try an organic medium(5-1-1 mix) for one of these girls. I will stick with what has given me great success; coco. I will experiment with my soil mix on some freebie photos I have lying around. Thanks

Ya bro, rock that shit. I'm interested to see how they work out. If you can somehow block light from getting into the res, it will keep algae at bay.

Yeah bro, potting up the SODK tomorrow. Can't wait to see how big they get.

As far as the light/algae issue; I have run this way for a couple years now. Never really had an algae "problem". One thing that I failed to mention is that even though it is run as hempy, after 24 hours, if the plant hasn't used all the water/nutes, I empty it, and give it another 24 hours to dry out. I have only seen algae if I am unexpectedly away for more than a couple days, which is really rare. Even then, I just clean it out and feed fresh nutes. But yeah, thanks for the heads up just the same, brother. I will have some baby pics for you tomorrow. :peace:
