True, just because you got a bad one is no reason to put them down. You should have returned it for a replacement immediately. In my experience, it's the most accurate soil pH probe I've used. I've not tried a Blue Labs so I can't compare it, but I find mine to be very accurate and reliable. If I had the money I'd buy a gross of them and pass them out to all the new growers. They are a wonderful tool that can save a lot of time and potentially save a failing grow.
pH isn't that difficult to understand. At it's most basic it's just a scale and you're measuring where your soil falls on that scale. After that it's just taking the necessary steps to raise or lower it, depending on your particular situation. Granted, having good soil from the start helps, but even people who have bought things like Fox Farms Ocean Forest with a pH of 4.5 have been able to address it and still have successful grows.
Yes mate I hear ya

I have read about other growers who have had them fail or not work at all.
I could not return it as UK to USA would have been too much trauma but thats a fair point I suppose. Also when the soil PH hit the fan in my room I needed a quick response from the seller. I needed a soil probe next day, not weeks later. Definitely this is something that is needed before you even start growing!
For me the Accurate 8 was no different than the other £5 soil probes from ebay. I bought them too and they did not work either.
Just my 2 cents..
In my limited experience chasing a ph issue during a grow is a stressful business often with upset laying in wait.
Soil is slow to show you a problem and equally slow to show you its happy again.
Ive read many stories of adding this, that and a million litre flush for good measure, all to no avail.
My current grow thats just finishing off, again as before had its problems with soil ph.
Only this time round I bought a metre that worked and spent a lot of time chasing my tale.
In comparison to a couple of other plants I have going in a new soil recommended by tang (Plagron Light Mix). This is super stable so far.
My story is that metres can work and can fail. Prevention is the best cure and If I was doing soil again it would be with Plagron Light Mix not the Plant Magic stuff Ive been using before.
Thats with the limited knowledge of my first 3 soil grows ever. Often when people start out growing and this is me all over... Soil is just soil, who cares what it is. Your so busy on building the perfect room and buying the best new lights you miss the no 1 most obvious place to start and thats by using the best soil you can possibly find.
Not my problem for the foreseeable as Team True is going hydro

RDWC coming my way... No doubt a load more things I have learn all over.
Peace
