Mephisto Genetics Sour Crinkle Two Ways

Day 8 update

Are those little white dots the start of trichomes....? Probably not, but it makes me happy to think they are.

SC#2 (Biotabs) taking it easy, not pushing herself yet like her bigger sister.

SC#3 (Remo) battery died on main camera so the colour's off as had to use my old phone.

And finally, I watied for SC#4 to show her head, but eventually went digging and found a dead seedling. Her replacement is trying to make up for it, popping up in recrod time.

Looking good. I'm gonna be ordering some remo today. Gonna go full line up. I'm interested to see how this turns out.

I've used it once before and it worked great. Best thing about it is minimal ph'ing, at least with my water which is 7.4. Mixing up the Remo as per their schedule means it drops my water down to 6.3. Towards the end of the grow when the nutes were increased I actually had raise the ph a bit.

Day 15

Big news is I've moved the girls into a brand new space, I've now got a 1mx1m tent instead of my cramped cupboard. Whole thing turned out to be a bit of a marathon, but all seems to be running fine. I ordered a 4 inch carbon filter, the shop screwed up and sent me a 6 inch, the thing is huge. Also, I've gone from having temps too high to having them barely warm enough, might have to lose the air cooled case for the COB's at some stage. Blumats hooked up to the two larger plants and seem to be working a treat. The Phonictrap ducting is so much better than the previous acoustic stuff I was using, at the outflow it's damn near silent, saw a post by @arty zan about this stuff and he was right on the money. I'm thinking of getting a metre of the 12in and putting it over the fan.

@Arsenal here's a photo of the air cooled set up, might work in your space if you're still struggling with high temps. That's 250w of Timber COB's in there, cranked right up and it's only raising the temperature 1 degree above ambient.

Day 17

The girls seem to be loving the extra space.I probably shoull be LSTing them, but I'm feeling lazy. I might just let them all grow naturally, see what they do.

I find my camera changes the white balance every time I change the angle, annoying but not sure how to fix it.

Sour Crinkle [HASHTAG]#3[/HASHTAG] just didn't take off, she's half the size of her siblings. She also came up a pale green, much lighter than the others so I've pushed her to the side of the tent and my pull her to make way for my first hydro attempt. I've got a Sour Hound x Hesinberg waiting in the wings.

Sour Crinkle [HASHTAG]#4[/HASHTAG] Biotabs

She's a week behind the others, but coming on strong. I hooked her up to the blumat on day seven as per advice from @slowandeasy and she seems to be enjoying water on demand. When I was using autopots I never turned them on so early, but it seems with drip irrigation you can.

Sweetness right there! I just bought a set of the Blumats, never used them before, how do you like them?

So far so good. And watching the drips reassures me that something's actually happening! With autopots I was forever opening the tray lid just to see if the water level had changed...

Day 21

SC#1 Remo

Opened the tent a couple of days ago to find this girl drooping. First thought was overwatering so I turned off her blumat. No change once the coco had dried out after a day, and given she was slightly paler than the Biotabs girl decided to up the feed. Mixed up a new batch of Remo and 12 hours later she'd perked up, even though she looks like she might be able to handle more. I guess she's the hungry type.

SC#2 Biotabs

Starting to streak ahead of her Remo fed sister. Did some leaf tucking after this photo was taken to open her up a little.

SC#4 Biotabs

No issues with this girl, she's grown a lot since the last update.

DSC02323.JPG

And... a little unscheduled addition to the tent, Sour Hound x Heisenberg which is going to be my first attempt at DWC. I'll be journaling her in the hydro section.

Day 27

SC#1 (Remo) went through a bit of a blip this week, but I worked out with the help of the infirmary it was a lack of magnesium causing the droopy leaves and light colour, a few epsom foliars sorted it out and she's back on track though it did set her back a few days behind SC#2 (Biotabs). I'm just happy to have got it sorted.

SC#2 Biotabs

Man she's quick, must be the Sour Crack in her, day twenty seven and already flowering. This is the first time I've used Silicum Flash and so far I'm impressed.

SC#4

Much more open structure to this girl, I think she's going to be quite different to her sisters.

I just love watching these plants grow.

Day 33.

I've learnt something valuable this grow, my water supply is extremely hard and has high levels of Calcium but almost no Magnesium at all! I don't know why I'd never checked the local water board's website before, but I'm glad I did. Will make things easier next round, no more Cal-mag, just Mag. The RH has been climbing up to 77% so I've had to put a dehumidfier in the tent, running it continuously just about keeps it down to 55%.

SC#1 Remo - this was the droopy sad looking girl. The Magnesium foliars and extra mag in the feed (Canna mono mg) did the trick and she's bounced back and actually grown larger than her Biotabs sister.

DSC02412.JPG

SC#2 Biotabs - She's now fallen prey to the dreaded Mag deficiency, so I've top dressed with Silicum Flash and added a Mag to her feed water as well.

DSC02413.JPG

SC#4 Biotabs - Well, Something's going on here, she's a completely different shape to her sisters, so much more open structured, and taller too with huge fan leaves (I once had an Auto Night Queen which had a similar growth pattern, but she turned out to be transgender... I'm hoping that's now what's going on here.). She's the top right in the group shot.
