Tall pots are better than wide pots. Cannabis likes to put down deep roots rather than wide ones.

With that in mind, is that why there is a trend of planting in soda cups and the planting on, into a larger pot by means of sitting the cup on top of the grow medium in the larger pot? (Prior to removing the bottom of the soda cup for root system growth.)
