Stunted deformed plants ! badly swollen stems

Some diseases attack the stem from the inside, including pythium and some insects bore into the stem and feed in the inside. I'd split open a stem and see what it looks like on the inside. This is no genetic defect, its diseased,

Blue .... Thanks very much
i really don't want to suggest it is any fault of DP
ive no idea what's going on here.

i have never re used soil ... And never stored soil.
bought new every time in sealed bags .

i will set about sterilising everything and spraying with insecticide .

ive been running the same feeding / temperature regime for 2 years .... There have been no sudden changes

Grab us a few more pictures before you start doing anything drastic. That's one of the things holding up making a better diagnosis.

No worries brother :) :d5:

I know you're a big DP fan like myself and been growing them for some time, so I'm sure they're gonna wanna take a look at whats happening here.

It's the weekend and i'm not sure if they're about, but hang tight and we'll try and get some answers from the horses mouth (so to speak hehe)

:Sharing One:

I've cut open all the stems ... Nothing strange to see inside .
soil virus is a possibility .. I don't know anything about it .... But it could only transfer from one crop to the next via dirty pots . I always wash them well , but don't always sterilise them .
i didn't think common sterilising products like bleach would kill viruses anyway .

i can't really take any photos of the worst plants .... They were harvested yesterday... But I can try to get pics tomorrow of the next ones that are already starting to show the same symptoms

I have something similar with my TD grow and I have a known calcium def.

How much was your harvest? Should I expect the same?

Yeild for this crop is down to about 40g per plant on average ... But it varies a lot between individual plants .
most crops were averaging 100 to 120 g per plant going back 4 months ago

Here is a plant at 10 weeks from seed.
It has only grown to about 14".
its starting to show the typical pattern of a mass of buds developing at the base of the plants with very little development higher up .
By the time of harvest at 14 weeks this mass of buds will be completely impenetrable , with the centre being white with lack of light . These lower buds never fully mature .
the stem in the photo is still fairly normal looking but will continue to swell and thicken until 14 week harvest .
in the past my think different plants were very different to this ... Tall ( generally 3 feet) with huge top colas and just a few tiny popcorn buds at the bottom of the plants .
the plants have always reached full height within about 6 weeks.
What is making my plants so short , and yet so over developed at the base of the plants ?
