Hoping someone out there can help me out...noticed some discolouration on the main trunk of a giant outdoor think fast plant. With my finger I was scraping parts of the stalk off...please help with suggestion to help shut this down! She is just into preflower, so we have another 6 weeks to go....should I just not worry about it, or is there something I can apply to help shut it down? Any experienced help would be greatly appreciated

Sorry about the dupe post...internet is being crazy

Other than that I assume the plant is in good health ?

Could be a fungus. Any garden center anti fungal treatment may work. As would neem oil. They can't hurt so worth a try until the guru shows up.....Hell @Waira

Thanks man, yes the plant is doing great except for the stalk rot. Just worried as the branches see their fair share of high winds, and I would hate to lose more than I already have this season :( . As preventative measure I soaked up as much moisture on the stalk as I could with paper towel, just in an effort to help dry it out a bit. I will follow up on this by building a mini tent overhead the main stalk before the next rain, but for now I will leave it open for better air circulation. Looks like clear skies for at least a few days. Both the think fast and the blueberry(no surprise with all of the damage she has endured this week and rains have been relentless) have some rot on the main stalk.
Thanks penguin!

:smokeout: What's up guys? .... 912', holy crap, she has actual bark! :growing: And how did you get it to fork out like that? :greenthumb:... the stuff that came up with your finger, was it this tan kinda flaky layer? I don't see outright rot, but do see the white patches in those roughed-up areas, is this what you're referring to? That might be fungal, but in the pics it's hard to tell,... there's lots of nice green tissue under the "bark" it seems... In any case, some anti-fungal product should knock it down, even something stronger than you would use on leaves,... Another trick, (though I've not tried this on cannabis, but orchids and other plants; l use it to paint over spotted area on leaves)-- is to use some of the powered Sulfur to make a "paint", like the old tempura paints we had as kids?-- about that consistency, with a little wetting agent, and paint it right on there.. it dries like a frosting of sorts (LOL! munchie talk there), pulling moisture away as well as killing fungal cells... the direct contact with the Sulfur kicks fungal ass, and doesn't seem to bother the leaf/tissue at all...it does wash away pretty easy though!

@Waira - Hey, thanks so much man. I think the sulfur plans sounds brilliant, I was just talking about it with my friend and I said "I hope there is something that I can put on it, that will act like a protective coating, or suck the moisture out."

Just above left of the lighter cap where it is patchy is where the "spongy" stuff was removed. Its like it soaked in a bunch of waters and turns to mush. In hindsight I really should have taken pics of it before I scraped a bunch away with my finger(and I do mean a bunch...its was exactly like scraping away waterlogged almost rotting wood). The white spots with the cracks also have some spongy(like the bark is waterlogged) within the cracks, but the darker brown in toward the joins of the main branches is "squishy".

This trunk is also suffering from the same issue, but from obvious reasons(she got beatdown and I lost some branches from an insane rainstorm which dumped 60ml of rain in a couple of hours)

@epenguin - yeah the Think Fast is looking great except for the stalk problem(some branches 6 feet tall, all tips 5+ feet tall)

Again thanks for the help fellas.

@Waira - I picked up some powdered sulfur, mixed as a paste, and applied to soft spongy areas. I also put up a tent overhead which shielded some rian off last night. Unfortunately we are expecting heavy rain with heavy wind tonight...hoping for the best!
OH waira...yes all of my outdoor plants have bark, even plants in 7 hours of direct sun. The style of training I use is fully detailed in the link in my sig. I still have a bunch of updates like young training pics to add when time allows.
This is the first year I have used LED lights(only ever used t8 flouros for the last 20 years starting plants for outdoor) for starting plants and the branches are a little closer to the ground that I would like. I think next year instead of cutting just the lowest pair of branches I will discard the bottom 2 sets to allow a bit of ground clearance(but still shooting for a total of 8 branches when topped).

Hope it works out for ya Green. Out of curiosity and sheer amazement, how much do you think you'll pull in this season, guesstimate?

Likely over 10lb dry between the 4 sun garden plants, assuming I can keep it together.
