kool thread I just got a GH Waterfarm stand alone to see how it goes. It was only $60 at the hydro store complete with nutes and everything. I can put 4 of these in my grow box if I like it. Has anyone else used them before?

I want to eventuall run 2 together and have 2 seperate systems going. I never really grow more than 2 of something anyway so this should work out fine for me.

I saw those when I was looking at systems and thought they were pretty nice for small setups. I thought about using them in mine but that area is too confining. Pots are just easier to deal with in there.

Pretty much decided on a 4 tray, 16 plant AeroJet to start. I'll probably buy it with the bigger res and add a few more trays to it later on. For light, a 16 bulb Quantum Bad Boy fits perfectly over a 4 tray setup. I'm hoping to get started on it after the holidays.

The time is drawing close to getting started on my hydro setup. After much research I've pretty much decided on a 4 tray AeroJet system with a 40 gallon res. Yes, it's a big res for that size table but I'm planning on expanding it down the road to at least 8, if not 10 or 12 trays. Lighting is going to be a 16 bulb Quantum Bad Boy. The AeroJet is available with either six 4" pots or four 5" pots per tray. Being new to hydro, I'm not sure which to get. Any suggestions?

4" is just fine. I'm pulling down a blue widow thats going to give about 6oz dry... in a 2" net pot.

I love hydro, you have more control. Here are some Pro's and Con's from personal experience.

Ebb/Flow seems to be my favorite, it keeps everything kinda clean and timing is flexible oin the watering... sorta like a drip soilless.

Aeroponic is the fastest growth but more expensive to set up, and also the most likely to kill your plants in the event of a mechanical/eletrical failure.

DWC is great if you can aerate/cool the water well enough, I wouldnt even try it without plenty of airstones and H2O2. This goes for bubbleponics too, no bubbles = no life.

The best way to go is to use a little of everything and see what you like...
I would do clones/veg in my Aero, then move them to my Ebb/Flo table for flowering. Aero is faster but the table is more stable; also Aero doesnt really affect flowering times, it does VEG faster, but will not give you Buds in 30 days obviously.

Veg Speed = Aeroponic wins
Stability = Ebb/Flow or Bubbleponic/DWC wins

This I stand by, due to my experiences. I cant claim that any one is better.

i'm runnin all hydro Muddy. couple things to keep in mind...always try and have enough room so that you can easily walk around the entire table. for ease of occasional flush, and rotation. Hydro needs to be completely broke down and cleaned every 10-14 days. if you get "large" tables, they can be cumbersome to handle when cleaning. one other point on table size...the old "all yur eggs in 1 basket" story. i might suggest 5 3x3 tables with their own rez for each. one 42 watt air pump, per table. using 9, 6" air stones on each table. rapid rooters into pargro rockwool 6 " blocks. each block sitting on it's own stone. buy the water pumps from home depot for 40 bucks each. rockwool blocks are awesome when it comes to portability, flushing, ease, and at under 3 dollars a piece, not a bad price either. of course the plant itself has met it's match in you Muddy, hope you find that hydro is the easiest, most productive method on the planet bro!

Thanks runner, I've already figured the space and I've got enough room to work. I'm going to start with one table and probably add another later on. Need to get my feet wet first.

After your comments about the emitters in your thread I've gone back for further research. I took another look at the UCs today. I looked at them early on but didn't fully appreciate them. But now that I've looked at the other options, I can see why you like them. The UC8XL looks like it might be a good fit. That's the 8 container system, 18 gallon per container. I was looking at the lids that fit two 5" pots. They are pretty close together. Think they are too close?

What I can't seem to get a good handle on is which is better in hydro, more small plants or fewer bigger ones? The UC8XL take up the same floor space as an 8 tray Aerojet but the Aerojet would hold 16 plants compared to 8 for the UC. The standard lid on the UC is an 8" pot, so I'm assuming those plants will get a lot bigger.

10" is overkill in most hydro setups.
The only time I have used them is when I built a RDWC system out of 27 gallon totes (the black & yellow ones @ Home Depot/Lowes) were the buckets, 10" netpots, 3" piping connecting everything. Very similar to the CC UC systems (Current Culture Under Current) It grew some beasts!
