Grow Mediums Surprisingly quiet in hydro forum...

I wonder why hydro isn't more popular around here? The ratio of soil to hydro grows is really skewed towards soil on this forum, compared to other (obviously lesser) forums. Lol.
Maybe not being able to run clones is part of the reason, or wanting to run several strains in a room at once?
Not bitching, just wondering. Whadda ya think?

There used to be a pretty good bunch of hydro growers here but they have either left or in the case of Nelson, died. He was one of the few who was growing autos on a large hydro scale. Personally I like hydro for photos and still grow my autos in soil, although I use a soil less method that is more akin to hydro than organic soil growing. I've done it all over the years, organic, chemical, indoors, outdoors in soil and pots, autos and photos. I'm all indoors now. I love my RDWC system and find it the easiest way to grow out of everything I've tried. Once I got the hang of it most days it doesn't require more than 1/2 hour of my time. Check the levels, mix a top off every 5-6 days, prune a little. Do a system change every 18 days or so.

I like variety from my autos which is the primary reason I still grow them soil less. I usually do 7-8 plants of 4 or 5 different stains. I think the same holds true for a good many growers on AFN. Also, a lot of the members are newer growers and I believe it's easier to start in soil and then move to hydro as your experience grows.

Coco is a form of soil less growing, like hempy, perlite or in my case, a peat/perlite mix. Any form of soil less growing is closer to hydro than growing in dirt.

Hey Ydijadoit! We are few in numbers and I have been on a grow break for the last month or so but I'm fixing to ramp back up! I will be working with @fettled6 to get the hydro section popping again!
