I started using the Apollo T5 bulbs with this run of autos- with a lanky pheno, to see if 2 and 2 of grow and bloom would produce. They are a significant upgrade from a stock bulb, and the bloom spectrum bulbs seem to really punch up the bud set.

Not for nothing as halfway off topic of upgrades, but I have some cheapo 24" T8's zip tied to my up poles in the tent, and two Zoo Med uvb 10.0 cfl bulbs, and I seem to think it helps overall :) just my two pence :p

conventional bulbs do work great but enhancing the spectrum doesn't hurt. uvb bulb work good during the last couple of weeks of flowering but can harm the plant if too much is used and is of little benefit before this time. many aquarium bulb are designed for growing plants and have a spectrum tuned to plant action curves.for conventional bulbs and good commercial quality bulb will work. hydro shop bulbs are just repackaged conventional bulbs at a slightly higher price http://www.discount-hydro.com/products/Eiko-T5-HO-Bulbs.html vs https://www.1000bulbs.com/product/100544/EIKO-F54T5HO865.html this is avery high quality commercial bulb. I have had very good luck with this brand but for obvious reasons do not buy them from hydro shops

I've only ever grown under t5's. Love the versatility! When you see a plant slow down after the switch to bloom lights yiu can kick um back to blue, no sweat. Worked great on the moby dick starin. 2 t5's in dead of winter keep my room just right.

yeah me too dude.in winter run yer lights at night that way during the day its a lil warmer or even the other way around.I had a great grow last winter.they rock.get a cpl LEDs man thats gold right there.lol.lT5's with an LEd and mixed specs in the HO's yup

If you use some on the side you can turn on the side lights as they grow up.with mine i can just unscrew the side lights i dont need.

Thank you all for your replies and responses, all the information you guys have provided has been incredibly helpful, definetly going to stick with my t5 8 bulb and upgrade to a 16 in the next week or two.

And upgrading bulbs sounds like a smart idea too, i'll get onto that ASAP!

Thanks agian guys! :D
Peace!
