Lighting Taking the plunge!!

@BigSm0 , I got my 1212's in, I must say they are smaller than I expected. Anyways my question is what is the coverage per chip and how many would I need at 50w to light up a 4x8 in your opinion keeping in mind that I already have 2 260 actual watt led blurple mars leds also. Should I just get 2 big 320h or stick with 3 cobs per 120h driver?

My ultimate goal is to get as much weight as possible in my space. Head space isnt an issue and I plan to put 8 - 12 plants in the space per round, what would you suggest?

you have some layout figuring to do with famed lights and a larger space. You would need to go with the smaller driver so you don't overdo the cob holders max voltage rating. As far as recommendations go its hard without seeing how you grow or the size of your plants too. Personally I have been trying to light the plants more importantly than the space. For instance if you ran a dehumidifier you wont need a cob above it. Making smaller frames will help you quite a bit as far as layout goes. I would go with 9-12 cob max in there. The 2 blurple don't really add much as far as par wattage goes, the "520" watts are more like 4 cobs 100 par watts. 3, 3 cob bars with 2 blurple in between should really do well.

Thanks man. A lot of this tech talk is a little confusing for a stoner like me but you have a gift with words because everything you just said to me makes perfect sense. Thanks sm0, everyone here on AFN is very humble and I love that. Its always a measuring contest on other forums as not to bash I loved every minute of it but here you guys are different. Thanks man.

I think this is partly because everyone here knows I grow the biggest plants.

Youtube has a good intro to cob series done by growmau5, I think theres 7 or 8 videos and I would suggest watching it before you dive in...

@ bigsm0 can you explain the advantages to running a clu048 1818 aposed to a 1212, and to drive each 1818 at around 70ish watts what driver size would I need? The main problem I'm having is how do i figire out how many cobs I can safely run on a driver and how many watts it would equal out to. Thanks man.

Do some reading on ohms law. It's good to read up and have a understanding of what you are working with and be able to put it to use.
