I know that temperature plays a big role in growing and I'm wondering if my soil temp may be too low. I don't have anything to measure soil, but my air temp are 69-71 and air outside the tents is at 64. I'm in an unfinished basement with two tents, all in 3 gallon smart pots with nectar of the gods [HASHTAG]#4[/HASHTAG] soil. The seedlings have been this size for a week or so and the larger plants are drooping and the branches are fragile. They get pH water to 6.5 with megacrop. The small ones have had plain water so far. Temp or something else at play here?

Yes definitely soil temp plays a role an plants growing in colder temps (most ) will grow slow .I use a heating mat the kind for clones for seedlings an to germination an it helps major .The only problem is they are small once the pots are bigger I need the plant to already be in a atmosphere where the soil is warm naturally .

My guess is that the basement floor is colder than the air temps.. by at least 10 degrees, making your roots do their thing in 60 ish degrees. Too cold. I grow in a 2x4 and use 3 seedling heat mats to cover the floor. If you decide to use them, I would suggest the plants be on stands to avoid direct heat. Also, the same cold basement probably has pretty low RH. They go together, usually. Seedlings like humidity.
For about 10 dollars , you can buy a comb therm/ hygrometer and sticknit on your floor and in soil to get an idea of what your plants are dealing with.

Way too cool, will definitely effect your growth.

If your under led, low to mid 80s air temps (with appropriate humidity) seems to be the sweet spot. If I shoot the bags, they're @ 73*.
Add in the straight concrete...

Sounds like your a good candidate for HPS. You could use the extra heat.

Have you looked into vpd yet? If you keep it close, you'll see great results!

I just started to new seedlings in very small pots on a heat mat so hopefully that will help those. I'm going to buy a heater for the basement to bring over all temperatures up. If I bring the temperatures up will those plants continue to grow or are they pretty much done since it was too cold?

My old setup was 4 Mars hydros and a viparspectra in the middle and summer temperatures would get between 88 to 91 degrees.. I don't see that being an issue with the auto Cobbs this summer but right now it's so cold that my temperatures are much lower than normal.

they'll grow, they may be smaller, but they will go on, especially if you can get the environment set up. they'll respond. they look healthy, just cold!

Foam insulation under pots and the small heating pads mentioned help a lot. Also watering with warmer water, 80 degrees or better wouldn't hurt. I have also used a clip light with an incandescent bulb pointed right at the side of the pot to bring up soil temps. I shoot for 75 degree soil temps, 78 degree leaf temp, and 80 degree air temp, with 60%RH for veg.
I only use cob's and fully understand your temp deal. (I have to keep my home heat up at 72 to make my grow room warm enough in the winter.)
If you need a long term soil temp heating solution, there is a product called AgriTape. Its a high quality heating mat available in larger sizes than the small seedling heat mats. I run a 22"x8' Agritape mat in my greenhouse in the spring ( I shoe horn 6 10 gallon pots on it). Its a life saver. They come in lots of handy sizes, you may be able to find a dimension that fits your tent. These aren't cheap, so this might be something for the xmas wish list. There are also soil heat cables that are more affordable as well. Quality soil thermostats are needed for either one of these solutions.
cheers

Sound like you got to warm those ladies up. My ambient temp is about 65. In the tent I like to run between 75 to 80. The CMH adds about 10 degrees give or take. Turn the heat up or find a way to warm the tent, Safely. Get them warm now or the will get stunted if they are not already. good luck

Bought a small ceramic heater for each tent..one tent up from 71 to 78.9 already.

Should these pick up and grow better once temp are up or are they kinda done for?
They might turn it on now that the temps are up , but you may have stunted them. Time will tell. If they done get moving, cull them. Not worth the effort or resources to keep severely stunted plants
